My husband and I have been wanting to go to this restaurant for quite a while and today we decided to stop in. Unfortunately I wish we hadn’t. I ordered the Louisiana style shrimp po boy and my husband had the crab soup and crab cakes. My sandwich was nothing special and the fries were not good. My husband’s soup and crab cakes had so many shells in it that it became a distraction to eat it. When I asked the waitress if it was normal to have so many shells she told me it was, because the crabmeat was fresh. I have eaten at several seafood establishments where there has not nearly been as many shells. Later that night I called the restaurant and asked to talk with a manager or owner and I spoke with the owners son who was rude and very stand off ish. We will not be returning. Luckily in DE we have several other choices for fresh food restaurants to spend our hard earned money at.

As a resident of Sussex County Delaware, I have passed by Meding's for many years but never dined there. Overall impressions? Food was mediocre, at best, considering the prices. I had the fried scallops with fries and a vegetable side. Scallops were barely breaded and I should have ordered them broiled instead. Our server was friendly and efficient. The restaurant atmosphere was mundane and could use a total makeover and refresh. Glad I finally experienced dining here, but won't be back anytime soon.

This was a fun little stop on my way to Lewes. The service was very friendly and helped me pick out some great options from the menu. I highly recommend the crab pretzels. Everything was great! I will definitely be back next time I’m in the area.

The quaintness of the restaurant is nice, but it took awhile to be seated and the food was just okay. The fish and chips tasted stale, like the oil was old. And my cream of crab soup wasn't very flavorful. The waitress was very nice. But for $60+ dollars for two entrees, I'd expect the food to be better.
