Absolutely NO COMPLAINTS! Arrived near closing time but still welcomed with a smile. Had raw oysters that were amazing (from Galveston Bay) and grouper basket. Both the best since being in Apalachicola. Only wish we hadn’t waited till our last night to eat here. Won’t make that mistake again!
We have been coming for nine years now and Hole in the Wall has consistently been our favorite place in the area and under the new ownership the place has been spiffed up and is much cleaner. The raw oysters continue to be the star of my show but there’s much more to like. This year we visited five times for lunch over a two-week span. Our daily order is pretty consistent starting with two dozen raw oysters (outstanding – plump and excellent flavor) and one pound of the cajun boiled shrimp (always outstanding and the broth is to die for). This is followed by either a fried shrimp basket (large, perfectly fried), grouper fingers basket (large pieces – lightly battered and perfectly fried) or fried oyster basket (nice sized, very flavorful and fried to perfection). The hush puppies are the best in the area and the unsweet tea is great too! Service is both friendly and efficient! Get there early as the place fills up quickly!
New management/owner is rude. We got a condescending attitude and lecture when asked if the oysters were local. Used to be my family’s go to every vacation to SGI. Will stick with Up the Creek or Lynn’s
We have eaten at this restaurant for the past ten years, fantastic food and owner/staff. Our last two visits with the new owner were disappointing to say r the least. Very rude owner on two occasions, staff was great. Will not bother again!!!
Oysters were great and service ok but the rest of my meal was terrible with poor quality Fish cakes and lousy corn on the cob.
Trusted Trip Advisor traveler ranking but the marinated vegetables drowned in a bowl of cheap Italian dressing was horrendous. Server even described the dish as “swimming in Italian dressing and that people loved it” but there’s no way they could have. Fried grouper basket with fries and 2 hush puppies was overpriced at $22. 1 small corn niblet for $3.75 is just wrong. Service was mediocre.
No better than Captain D’s. Everything was fried. Crab Claws didn’t say it was Blue Crab and coated in breading and fried. Oysters Rockefeller were not that great. Charged for water. Not what we expected.
Excellent food, tasty and appealing. Great flavor. Good seating, quick order at the bar. Food was served quickly. Lots of character. Nice view.
four for lunch. we had raw oysters, fried oysters, crab cakes, and seafood gumbo. everything was delicious! would recommend!!
Outstanding service, quality and price. Great casual atmosphere, quick food delivery. Quality was way above expectations.

Really is a hole in the wall but great oysters at a reasonable price and a great value for the shrimp basket. I drove 1,000 miles to eat here. Of course there will be more spots on the way back, but Hole in the Wall was the anchor point for the trip
I rode the coast over from the other side of Tallahassee just to enjoy a nice Saturday and ended up in Apalachicola. I checked Google for a good place and Hope in the Wall was tops and right in front of me. The oysters were outstanding, the grouper was really good and even though the place was packed out, everyone was really friendly. Had a chance to talk to a couple of employees working oysters and the bar and they were super. 100% going back again.

Slight wait time but got in after about 15mins . Went with a friend and two couples who own beach properties locally. This had always been a their favorite place for oysters/seafood for years, but on this April group outing both couples couldn't even start to finish oyster meals due to poorly prepared food preparation , even the tuna dip wasn't the same as past visits. Manager didn't seem to be interested in the criticism or suggestions offered and completed disagreed with the findings, even suggested "don't come back then". Replacement Oysters were offered but no one wanted to go through the ordeal again. .Manager did remove oyster meals from the tickets but everyone agreed that this is 1 stop they'll both remove from their future visits. Service waitress was great though.
The shrimp & grouper basket was delicious.
