We wanted to love this place! Drove from Ft. Lauderdale to try it. It was warm in the restaurant like the A/C wasn't on at some points. They were out of grits, jumbo shrimp, and oxtails before 11am. Very disappointing! The young ladies who served us were nice & did their best. The food we did get was tasty, but not having so many items, plus sweating bullets, wasn't a great experience. Probably wouldn't go back.
The new banyan tree is great. The hostess/waitress does an awesome job. She's a super hard worker. Very very grateful for their customers. So glad they opened back up. The best soul food around. Old Florida food and Belle Glade staple.
Banyan Tree is classic soul food The sweet potatoes tasted like they had just been picked from someone's garden. I'm vegetarian but will definitely eat there again. My son loved it too.
