I hadn't been here since it was Cal's Place and was very disappointed. I tried it because I looked at their online menu and it showed a good price for the breakfast I wanted. When we got there, the price was almost twice what it was in the online menu, the portions were much smaller than the old Cal's and the food wasn't anything special. It was obvious from the changes in decór that they're marketing to people who want to go at night, drink and be entertained. Definitely more of a pub than a restaurant atmosphere. I won't go back.Response from the owner 57 minutes agoCal was your cook this morning he has never left the kitchen and anything on the menu online should have been the same price did you tell your server sometimes the systems don’t update and we will correct but giving a one star review to a small shop in your town isn’t The best way to fix it talking can fix anything sorry and hope we can help and we definitely are no night owls we love our family’s with kids and our veterans so sorry you got the wrong impression we are getting ready for a customers birthday he is 11 so decor was for himMy response:My review was for a visit a few weeks ago, not today. I DID tell the server (before we ordered) that we came in based on the online prices, but she did not offer any solution and just said that she'd tell the owner to update the web site. My review of the food stands. I don't know if Cal was cooking that day, but the breakfast was not up to Cal's old standards. The friend who was with me had the same reaction: it was too expensive for the quality and quantity of his breakfast. The decór was definitely not for an 11-year-old's birthday, nor designed for children at all. It was comparable to several other pubs I've seen where people gather in the evenings to drink, listen to music and sometimes do karaoke. In those places, the food isn't the primary reason people gather and it's usually expensive for what you get. The place is dark, with advertisements for beer and entertainment. They appear to have gotten rid of the room where community groups used to have lunch meetings. One thing I didn't mention is that, at checkout, you were presented with pre-programmed tip amounts, some of which were exorbitant and labelled with captions such as "working to serve you during a pandemic". Those aren't the exact words, but that was the gist; it was basically asking for an extra donation because your server was willing to work. If you didn't want to choose one of those amounts, you had to write in a different amount (in front of the cashier); I did not feel comfortable with that and wound up tipping more than I wanted to in light of my dissatisfaction with the experience. The owner responded to my review and took me to task for giving one star to a small local business, saying that I should have talked with them instead. I did express my concerns to the server, but did not ask for the owner because I was with a friend who was visiting from another city and didn't want to create an uncomfortable atmosphere for our meal. I raised the score to two stars, but can't honestly give a higher score based on my experience.

Maybe I just picked the wrong food choices. Cheese burger no bun. Food was extremely greasy and it immediately made me sick. I was fine before and after. The burger just had a grease taste and I had to put on my own seasoning. See I like my burger cooked with the seasoning.I ordered brown gravy I got sausage gravy. For some it may be amazing but it's just not for me. Good luck and the place really does look amazing.

I see all these reviews and I think I’m missing something?? My husband and I ate here for lunch. Haven’t been here since it changed hands. Food was okay. At noon we was the only customer they had. What’s wrong with that picture?? My suggestion to the owner, get rid of the cheap cheesy tablecloths off the tables. Get rid of the table displaying the different alcohol you have. People will ask what you have. There’s Christmas decorations with Halloween decorations. Massive amount of tables. Lined up, I’ll give you that. To the chef, don’t cut your onions up in huge pieces. Slice real thin. No other complaints to the chef.

Love what they have done with the place, crazy decor all different types of themes, very eccentric. Food was excellent as always. Great cooks my cousin Billy use to work in the kitchen. I had two pieces of Fried Catfish with buttered bowl of grits and scrambled eggs. Coffee and water. Place where I sat in front of the stage was too dark for my eyes I had to use my flashlight to see the menu. Staff was very attentive to me. Place was not packed with people which was great. I found out they do comedy show on Saturday night for $10, so I will be back. Food portions were huge. Belleview FL keep on surprising me with all these great hidden jewels.

My wife and I enjoy breakfast to start our day and found this diamond in the rough of a restaurant . The staff is friendly, knowledgeable , and made our experience a pleasure. The food is spot on and cooked and presented in way that it hit a home run with our taste buds . Can’t wait to go to a comedy night here for a few laughs.

Decided to stop at this restaurant due to its Yelp reviews on a trip to Belleview. What a gem! The Philly cheesesteak and bacon cheeseburger were delicious. The waitress was extremely accommodating and the owner is one of the cooks. You can tell that a lot of thought and effort goes into what they serve you. Service and food could not have been better. Highly recommend!

I honestly think this was the best-tasting breakfast I've ever had.

We ordered the All American at $13.99 and it wasn't worth even $4.99. The potato salad was watery and inedible. Had to ask for mayo which came in individual packets. The fries were so-so. Very disappointed. If we eat there again I'll go with breakfast. We've eaten there in the past before stupid COVID and were pleased. Just stay away from the burger.Went there again in September with family member visiting from Idaho. Order breakfasts. Blah, Meh - nothing to brag about. Mimosa at $9.99 was overkill, worth about $2.00. But the kicker was the bill - $5.00 charge for COVID. She rang it up before I even had a chance to question the charge. Ridicules. Will not go back again. Hope you do OK but you need to make some changes. Food not all that great, so-so service and hidden charges.

My Friend and I had Lunch at “Food Wizard” this past weekend. She had the wonderful Catfish and I wanted a good Hamburger. Neither one of us was disappointed. But I need to mention the French Fries. I think I ate half of the Fries before I tackled my Hamburger. The Service was good and we felt safe with the new Renovations, and distancing was not a problem. We found out that they have “All you can eat Catfish”, I believe on Fridays; however, it starts at 5:00 p.m. I wish they would consider changing the time to around 3:00 p.m. Some of us like “Early Bird” Dinner. All in all, it was a great Lunch and we had a “To Go Box” to enjoy later plus we were asked if we wanted a Drink To Go. Good Luck Essey and Kayla. (I did notice that this is a “Woman-owned” Business - Yea)! Rose Marie

While heading to one of our favorite spots in Belleview for lunch yesterday, the Mrs. came across "Food Wizards" reviews, and said, "let's try it". I said, "It sounds like a food truck". But, you know, "Happy wife, happy life" . . . . so there we went. A moderate-sized bistro (without wheels), the parking lot was empty at 1 pm. Uh-oh . . . but a waitress sitting outside waved at us, "We're Open"! So, we parked and went in. We were surprised to be in a lovely little place tastefully decorated, with soft music, and a very personable, accommodating staff. Booths, tables or sit outside. A nice menu, not over-bearing, for breakfast lunch, and dinner. The wife had a substantial, flavorful, omelet. I had the chicken salad wrap which was equally fresh and well prepared. I added a side,w an abundance of perfectly cooked, piping hot fries. Complemented by the personable, attentive service, it was truly an enjoyable first, but not last visit.
