Gary Woo Express has been on list to try forever but we only just made the trip. It’s a humble West Boca takeout spot with old-school vibes: red walls, laminated menus, celebrity photos taped to the wall (yes, Adam Sandler), and a couple of tables if you eat in. Not much atmosphere—but that’s not the draw.
The food is unapologetically American-Chinese, and it nails that nostalgic New York flavor. We had crispy shrimp balls (deep-fried shrimp paste wrapped in noodles—fantastic), roast pork fried rice (great char siu, wok hei, not greasy), and a standout shrimp with lobster sauce (rich, eggy, loaded with ground pork, not watered down). Portions are huge and prices fair—three dishes plus a soda ran just under $50.
They also offer a dim sum section on the menu, which we haven’t tried yet—but based on what we ate, there’s promise.
It’s not fancy, curated, or modern—but it’s the kind of takeout Chinese many of us grew up with and can’t seem to find anymore. Eat it there while it’s hot. It’s worth it.

I’ve been a faithful customer of Gary Woo for many years. It has always been of good quality and delicious. My favorites are: egg roll, fried won ton, boneless BBQ pork, fried rice, general Tso chicken, vegetable lo mein and the pork dumplings.
Prices are high for a take out but portions are abundant and quality is very good.
Approved!

Rice was not dry. Sauce excellent on both dishes. But the best
was the freshest ingredients. TY Gary Woo

Craving New York style Chinese fast food since they left the north east. This is the first time in 20 years that I was able to order the delicious fried chicken wings and poured fried rice that I loved so much as a kid. The staff is super friendly and they give you a discount for paying with cash. Highly recommend.

I absolutely do not recommend this place. I ordered chicken with vegetables, and what they served was definitely not chicken. I mentioned it to the manager, and he insisted it was chicken. I know chicken, and this was some kind of paste with a texture similar to chicken, but it was far from the real thing. When I asked for teriyaki sauce, they said they didn’t have any—surprising for a Chinese restaurant.
I also ate at the restaurant and was given small, flimsy plastic utensils that were barely 3 inches long, more suited for kids than adults. Overall, a disappointing experience. Avoid this place if you’re looking for real food and a decent dining setup.

Ma po tofu was great, and with ground pork which it should have. But the Sechuan shrimp was not like the one I really know and love- can’t even say it’s the same pepper. I guess they adjusted for Boca community. And I never really order sushi from Chinese take out, you should go to a only Japanese place for that if you want the better ones but I’m sure they make it good enough as a comfort food. People there were nice to me and I felt they had good service. I didn’t like small portion - but I guess based on the reviews I imagine how hard it is to own a business like this in Boca. Just try it first instead of listening to the bad reviews. The food was way better than the last one I tried near Doris’s
To small portion of food for $13 to $14 per order . Definitely can do better

I brought in food from Gary Woo tonight and got food poisoning. This was the worst Chinese food I have ever had and the most expensive too. The food was worse than terrible. One of the items was boneless ribs. $20.00 for a very small appetizer item. The dish looked like it was 2 months old and picked up off the street. I threw it out. $20.00 for a tiny lomein combination dinner, horrible. I am writing this review to have the average consumer avoid the expense and dissatisfaction that I experienced. If I lived closer I would have returned the entire order and asked for my money back. AWFUL!
