I'm giving 5 stars to the Boca location. (I'd give 3.5 -4 to the Palm Beach Gardens spot. I don't like the layout as much, and the mac and cheese isn't the same as the heavenly one I had in Boca. A few of the menu offerings are different as well, so for this review I'm focusing on the Glades Road location.) Starting with dessert I'm going to say the carrot cake alone is enough to draw crowds, and I highly recommend ordering it to eat there or to go. It's a very large piece and can't be eaten by one person at one sitting. Specials are offered each day, so be sure to check those before ordering. The side dish of the aforementioned mac & cheese is excellent. It's cheesy without be overly cheesy, and baked brown on top as I prefer. The large whole artichoke is a good choice for an appetizer, along with its delicious dipping sauce. My all-time favorite order, however, is the French Dip. This s***** is incredible. Full of rare roast beef and served with au jus and horseradish sauce, it's impossible not to like (unless you don't eat meat). It's served with thin, bistro-style fries, also good dipped in the au jus. The bar in the Boca location is situated right in the middle of the restaurant and the kitchen is directly behind it. The bar gets full at lunch time, so I'd suggest showing up early if you plan to eat there and make a reservation if you want a table.

J Alexander's if it has one thing it is consistency. Our food, service were both excellent. Armend was terrific. The prime rib sandwich is the bomb. The chocolate cake is to die for. The whipped cream accompanying the cake was the best i have ever had in a restaurant. The only off-putting experience was when we were taken to a table and we asked if we could be seated one table up. The hostess called out to the desk and they said no. Wierd. No one sat in that table for a half hour. Our server had no explanation and neither did we.

I have dined here before and the bottom line is the decor, service, and food are all quality. However, it is just way to pricy. Let's take the simpliest example of ordering a cheeseburger dinner. $18 plus tax of about 7% and the standard tip is 20%, so now you have paid $22.86 for said burger. Plus you need a beverage which is about $3 plus the aformentioned 27%, which makes it $3.81, for a grand total of $26.67 for a cheeseburger, fries, and Diet Coke. Is that really worth it? To me the answer is no.

Not bad. Good place, big, good service. Food was good. I personally like another place slightly better that goes by the name of a city in Texas. But this place was good. Recommend.

We've been here 14 times and always have a great meal- whether it's the filet mignon, prime rib, BBQ ribs or cheeseburger - they never disappoint! The expresso martini is amazing and my husband loves their Neptune Salad! My daughter says the waiter's are so nice to us!

Great location but food could be better. Artichoke hearts were not good at all. We ordeeed Steak special and filet mignon and both were good. The broccoli was cooked well too so all in all a decent experience

Went again last week and it was mayhem. Some folks told it was a 3.5 hour wait. We got in about 75 minutes. Have been many times, and typically worth it. Make a reservation! Waitress was awesome. Talia, I think her name is. Really engaging, knew the menu, great with our kids... We ate late so went a little lighter and got a Caesar salad, cheeseburger, and a veggie burger. My last trip I had the marinated ribeye, which I really didn't enjoy. Salad was good. Burger was ok, and fries and baked potato were the stars of the show. Veggie burger would not get ordered again. Solid 3.5 stars. Rounding up for awesome service.

The wait at this place is horrendous. They need to figure out a better system or hire more staff to accommodate. I know this is a problem everywhere lately, but a 3 hour wait is insane. Luckily the food is worth it.

The Best of the best restaurant. My 1st experience of J. Alexander restaurant was in Orlando I was in love with the atmosphere and the service. This led me to search for J .Alexander restaurant near me. I tried everyone of them locally, but only Boca was the best. I took the birthday girl out for dinner . The prime rib was amazing cooked to perfection. When you see a waiter in a long black apron ;you know the experience will be top notch from the Beginning to the end. The warm carrot cake ended the night with a side of ice cream . Just to wrap this up I drive from Miami to Boca for the best . Believe me you will enjoy the experience.

My parents and I dined in Saturday, Aug 30. This is a favorite of theirs. It was only about the third time I had dined in. I ordered the Steak Tacos. They were absolutely delicious. The seasoning was great and it was somewhat salty. I love salt, which made this right up my alley. They offer sourdough bread while you wait and it is delicious! Jennifer was our server and she was absolutely wonderful. Dad got the wrong salad but Jennifer realized the kitchen mix-up right away and brought a replacement in three minutes. She was on top of drink refills as well. The only thing I would like to see is more in the "burgers, sandwiches, and small plates" section of the menu. They offer a cheeseburger and veggie burger. I would have liked to see a couple more burgers here. The tacos were brilliant. Jennifer recommended this and she was spot-on with it!

Surprisingly I haven't had J. Alexander's until recently! I think I usually go on the other side (west) of I95 and didn't really consider the restaurants east of I95. Now that I know J. Alexander's is on the west side of 95, I'll be checking them out more frequently. Parking was really easy as they had a sign that indicated valet on this side and self parking on the other side. Even at 9pm on a Friday, the restaurant was really busy. We had a reservation and even walking in, I can see every table was full. We sat down and a server came to get our drink orders. We looked over the menu which is also posted online but they provided an additional specials menu. This really spoke to me. Almost everything on the specials menu was something I would order! I went with the steak skewers with grilled vegetables. It came with rice and it was delicious! Enough food for leftovers the next day. What surprised me was how fast the food came out. It hit our table 15 minutes after ordering which was great because we were starving! We thought it would take longer due to how busy they were. Definitely amazing taste and I can see why they have the business they do.
