J. Alexander's Restaurant

Last night it just wasn't great. Food was not consistent. We come here a lot. Twice a month. The food is normally very good. We ordered the artichoke app which was delicious. The Cypress salads were good but missing avocado again! This has to be the third time this has happened to us both in the last 3 months. We realized it half way through and then the bar service is rough on a busy night (forget take out they barely look at you while you are waiting!) so we could not get any one to help. Avocado is one of the highlights of that salad so i'm not sure what is going on in the kitchen for this is happen.

The food was absolutely amazing, the environment was upscale yet cozy, unfortunately the service was extremely limited. Our waitress Rain barely paid us any attention, yet checking neighboring tables frequently and was going above and beyond for everyone around us on valentines night. We had to request for starter bread( after the main course was already brought to the table), request kids sippy cup, request a napkin for our child…. We had to wave down other waiters multiple times to fulfill these simple requests.

Also Before any food was served, we asked her if we could switch to the empty booth right next to us so our toddler could nap, she said no, because we didn’t request a booth on our reservation. Meanwhile we just saw an old white man snatching a table saying “ that’s it, I’m sick of waiting, you let them know I’m getting this one.” And they let him…. The double standard was subtle but loud.

So very disappointing, we know she was working hard, just not for us.

Celebrated my birthday dinner here with some friends and family. Everyone was happy with their food and drinks, I had the prime rib which was delicious. Our server was John, he was awesome and very attentive.

Every single plate provided to our table was dirty. We asked for more and those were dirty too. The service was okay, food was good.
I never leave reviews but had to after this experience as I probably will never return after how apparent it was that the dishes were not being cleaned!!

I don't usually like to order grilled chicken in restaurants because it doesn't alway taste good. I can't imagine trying anything else here, I enjoyed the grilled chicken. I have tried other dishes before but chicken was good. It was well-seasoned without being overpowering, tender and juicy.

J Alexander had always been great, and the food still is. The new lighting is so bright throughout the entire restaurant it just ruins the whole dining experience… it’s like a 1980’s NY Greek dinner… nothing wrong with a Greek dinner but we won’t be back… too many great options with much better experience

First time here & definitely not the last. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable & attentive. We started with the roasted artichokes & avocado bomb both equally delicious. Entrees were prepared to perfection. Probably the best ribs we've ever had. As crowded as it was during prime dinner time on a Friday, the noise level was still comfortable allowing for conversation without raised voices. We thoroughly enjoyed dinner & will most definitely return soon.

Great food and better service! Our server Ashley was smart, funny, and her recommendation for the pork chop was on point! The martinis are highly recommended.

We were very disappointed with the quality of the steak. It was completely flavorless. You could get a better steak at Texas Roadhouse. The carrot cake was incredible, but it does not make up for the rest of the meal.
