We’ve had such good meals here, the jambalaya, gumbo, mac and cheese bites are to die for, the biscuits are delicious, the sides are all super fresh, like the asparagus, and done perfectly, the rice and beans casserole actually has nice surprise meat in it too, we’ve not had the dishes others are complaining about but we can say all the dishes we’ve had have been amazing. So disappointed to read some of these reviews, that’s not been our experience. We really hope they make it because the menu is not your usual salmon chicken steak fare, like most places, it’s special. That’s our opinion!

I was just there this evening and on a Friday night there was literally one table and two people sitting at the bar. The music was obnoxiously loud to the point where it was impossible to even sit at the outside portion of the bar. Definitely would never go back and it looks like they’re not gonna last long.

We had a 3pm reservation at Penelope for Mother’s Day today and were severely disappointed. Our server, Niko, was probably the only redeeming factor of the whole experience. First, we were met by what i can assume was a manager? Clearly, he wasn’t having the best day and we caught the other side of that. Eye rolling, dropping plates on the table after I complained about one of the dishes being dirty, no greeting, not welcoming at all. One thing to note, they had the doors and windows open. It was 86 degrees outside. We sat inside and were STILL sweating. Add velvet cushions (very pretty though) and it was a recipe for disaster. Not to mention the flies. We got a round of mimosas and a red rose for each mom as a celebration of Mother’s Day, which was nice but unnecessary if they had put that much thought and effort into the rest of the experience. We ordered the crab cakes and the rock shrimp as an app which were the best part of the meal. If it’s standard to have dishes brought out as they’re ready, I would have appreciated knowing that in advance instead of waiting around awkwardly waiting for the rest of our family’s meals to arrive. Both my mother-in-law and I got the moules frites. I promptly returned mine. Very little seasoning and the mussels were quite briny and bitter. After a few mussels my mother in law also sent hers back, neither of us wanting a replacement. I ordered a (TWENTY FIVE DOLLAR) shrimp cocktail which was fine. Hard to mess up shrimp cocktail but the shrimp were so tough and over
cooked. My husband ordered the chicken po boy which was soggy and had a very strange flavor? But the worst was my mother’s shrimp and grits. The coffee mousse was so gross to put it frankly. The grits were under seasoned and yet again, the shrimp was wildly overcooked. The server only took one of the mussels off the bill but that point, we were so ready to get out of there that we didn’t even fight it. Over $100 for a crappy experience.

I was disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The staff’s refusal to separate eggs for an egg white dish was frustrating and showed a lack of attention to customer needs. This simple request should have been easily accommodated, but their unwillingness to do so ruined what could have been a pleasant meal on Mother’s Day. I expected better service and will not be returning.

Stopped by for a quick bite to eat with my dad and sister and I just wanted to say food was great but service was excellent. We had Alyssa as our server and my sister and I couldn’t stop commenting on how great and efficient her service was. Made the whole eating out experience better! I never leave reviews but just needed to. Alyssa if you see this you were amazing keep it up girl 🫶🏼

Awful. Food was not good. Sent half of what we ordered back. Restaurant was totally dead on a Wednesday night. 3 tables! Speaks volumes to how terrible this place is. Not to mention totally overpriced. $25 for shrimp cocktail, with only 3 small shrimp!! Don’t bother. Other than the owners son as our waiter, everything was subpar.

Honestly. Avoid this place when you can. The dining room was dirty with crumbs on the table and fingerprints on the glass. When food came out the taste was either bland or just not good. We got a Apps and entres were they should be out by certain times. The kitchen and service just gave them to us as they came out resulting in apps coming AFTER entres.
We ordered a caesar and it came with full anchovies on chunks of untossed lettuce. I mean what the hell. The dressing was also so loaded with citrus you couldn't eat it. The mussels were bland and cold near the bottom. The entrees came and again were totally tasteless!
We left there paying an arm and a leg for crappy food in a dirty dining room by staff who didn't know we were there.
This place is so pretentious from the bottled water to the salads. But fails every step of the way. Choose something else I beg you

Really enjoyed happy hour at Penelope. The gumbo and Mussels were delicious. I really liked my crab cakes as well. We enjoyed the cocktails and half priced wine was a steal!

This is one of the cutest little spots I’ve been to in a while. The decor is eclectic and very cool. I came for my birthday and it was a perfect stop for happy hour. The oysters Rockefeller were very tasty and the beignets were amazing with a nice crust. Mary was our bartender and very nice and even gave me a birthday drink. We will definitely be back to have a meal.

Good little spot in mizner park.. excellent decor and vibe with indoor / outdoor bar 👍. Drinks are solid, only had a couple menu items… burger overcooked but has pimento cheese which makes everything delicious. Po boy was excellent.

Went to Penelope's on Sunday for brunch and it left MUCH to be desired. For starters we weren't greeted or told to wait to be seated we walked in looking for a hostess to finally be seated by a hostess.
Service was slow and the kitchen was slow.I got the crab cakes benny, it was ok. the hollandaise sauce was thick, not light and creamy I scraped it off.The crab cake was soft and fell apart when I cut into it.
the person with me had fried chicken and french toast that was bland. the chicken needed seasoning badly. The french toast was, mehh.I wish them luck on their restaurant but I will not go back.
