One of the best sushi places I’ve ever been to! The signature rolls are absolutely delicious! creative, perfectly balanced and full of flavor. The sushi is incredibly fresh and the overall quality of the food is outstanding. The place is spotlessly clean and beautifully designed with attention to every detail. The team is friendly, professional, and clearly enjoys what they do. Service is top-notch fast, warm and attentive. Sushi Yama is a place you’ll want to come back to again and again. Highly recommend!

Love the new Happy Hour! I’m obsessed with the special roll wrapped with steak and the strawberry basil martini!!! Cool to see vegetarian stuff on there as well!

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. I came to Sushi Yama expecting a nice dinner — instead, I left frustrated and honestly disgusted. The service was beyond slow, and our waiter seemed completely uninterested in taking care of our table. We had to flag her down multiple times just to get water refills, and when the food finally came out, it did not taste fresh and had a very fishy bad smell. The restaurant smells like mold.
To make matters worse, when I checked my credit card statement later that night, I saw that the tip charged was more than what I wrote. I never authorized that amount — the waiter clearly altered the tip after I signed. That is flat-out theft. I’ve reached out to the restaurant multiple times and have been completely ignored.
This kind of dishonesty is unacceptable, and the lack of accountability makes it even worse. I will never eat here again, and I urge anyone thinking about it to check their receipts and statements carefully. Sushi Yama has lost all credibility in my eyes. CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENT!

I’ve never been more disgusted by the level of service and dishonesty at a restaurant. My experience at Sushi Yama was absolutely unacceptable. Our waiter was inattentive, rude, and seemed completely uninterested in serving us from the moment we sat down. She rolled her eyes when we asked questions about the menu and practically tossed the plates on the table without a word.
But the real shock came after we left. I checked my credit card statement later that night and saw that the tip charged was way more than I had written down. I didn’t authorize that amount, and it was clear the waiter intentionally changed it after we left. That is theft, plain and simple.
When I called the restaurant to report it, I was met with indifference and told “management would look into it.” It’s been days — no apology, no refund, no accountability. The food wasn’t worth the price to begin with, but now I’m also dealing with a fraudulent charge?
Sushi Yama has lost my trust entirely. I will never be back, and I strongly urge others to check their receipts carefully if you choose to dine here. There are too many great sushi spots in town to put up with this kind of shady, disrespectful service.

I really want to like this restaurant because it’s close to home, the food is decent, and the atmosphere is nice. But the service is just not there. Out of the eight times I’ve been here, I’ve only had one good experience with a server.
They always seem to be understaffed—both waiters and cooks—so the service is inconsistent. The servers take forever to come to the table, and when they do, they’re rushing because they’re overwhelmed with other tables. Unfortunately, they’re also not very friendly. On top of that, the food takes a long time to come out.
Like I said The food is decent, but because of the service, I wouldn’t want to bring anyone visiting here. I really hope they improve their staffing and service because this place has potential.

Dishonest and fraudulent—Check Your Receipts!
I have been to Sushi Yama in the past (over 5+ years ago) & was disappointed by the low-quality sushi. However, after hearing that the quality had improved, I gave them another chance. To my surprise, the food was better on my recent visits, but my latest experience completely ruined any reason to return.
On my most recent visit, the service was abysmal. Our waitress (Asian woman with a round face who works there almost daily) ignored us for nearly 45 minutes without bringing our drinks, never checked in to see if we were satisfied, and left us sitting in the heat with no refills. Our plates were stacked on the table for so long that bugs started attacking us, & we had to wait an excessive amount of time for sauces that should have come with the meal—by the time they arrived, our food had already gone cold.
Despite this, I still left a tip, albeit a modest one, as tipping is based on service quality. I wrote $5.53 on my receipt—a direct reflection of the poor service received. However, upon reviewing my bank statement, I was shocked to find that I had been charged $100 instead of $90.
I called the restaurant, and they took my information, & said the owner would call me back. That never happened. I went in person to speak with the owner. After explaining the situation, the owner claimed it was probably a “mistake”. The next day, I received a photo of my receipt, which had been CLEARLY FORGED—the waitress had added a “1” in front of my $5.53 tip, turning it into $15.53 and inflating the total to $100.
When I confronted the restaurant about this blatant fraud, the manager only offered to refund the tip portion in cash, I declined. I demanded that the full $100 be refunded, or I would dispute the charge with my bank. At this point, the manager became condescending and dismissive, arguing:
• “Is it fair that you ate the food and now want a full refund?” (Fair? Your staff committed credit card fraud—this isn’t about fairness, it’s about theft.)
• “If you can’t forgive in life, then life will be hard for you.” (This isn’t a moral dilemma; it’s a legal issue.)
• She insisted that ‘Asian people don’t steal’ and that ‘if you do good, you receive good, and if you do bad, you receive bad.’ (If that’s the case, then bad service should receive a bad tip—not an altered one!)
• She justified the fraud by saying the waitress’ mother has stage 5 cancer & she probably needed the money. There's no such thing as stage 5 cancer, so that’s a false statement. However, if her mother is truly sick with cancer, that’s heartbreaking, but it doesn’t excuse stealing from customers.
The worst part? Instead of taking accountability, they tried to guilt-trip me into accepting it as a “mistake” and completely dismissed the fact that their employee was caught committing fraud.
If this happened to me, I guarantee I am not the only victim. If you dine here, check your bank statements and ALWAYS take a picture of your receipt. This restaurant allows theft from customers and refuses to acknowledge the seriousness of credit card fraud.
I have worked in the restaurant industry for years, and NEVER have I even considered forging a tip. Tips are earned, not stolen. But at Sushi Yama, if your server isn’t happy with what you left, they’ll just give themselves more.
This restaurant has lost my business forever, and I urge others to be extremely cautious—if you eat here, protect yourself, check your receipts, and watch your bank statements carefully.
Absolutely disgraceful business practices.
Attached are the photos of the receipt. You can zoom in to see how creative the server was in adding a “1” to the tip, so here’s your 1 that you so desperately needed. You get “1 STAR”!!! I wish I could give 0 stars for FRAUD!

Very disappointed with my order. Ordered ahead of time for Super Bowl Sunday and called in an order of Crab fried rice around 1pm. They asked for how many people and we said “6”. Didn’t give a price or anything, just said ok, it’ll be ready in 35 mins.
Picked it up and took the food home and had to run some errands before the game. Finally once the game started we were eating and realized they gave us Chicken fried rice. Called the restaurant a few times and no one answered. Then finally after the 5th time someone answered and said they were closed. I told them we have a platter of chicken fried rice when we ordered Crab fried rice. She said they entered it in as chicken fried rice and it was only $50. That’s unacceptable as I didn’t order this and “only $50” for chicken fried rice sounds crazy. There was no solution and she just said the girl that took my order is already gone. She just said sorry, but was not trying to help.
Edit: it was never about the price. We would’ve paid whatever it was. We’ve had ordered the crab fried rice before and it was $20ish dollars for a to go box.

We used to enjoy eating at their other branches, so we decided to give this one a try. I’m honestly shocked that this is the same place I used to recommend to everyone. The food was a complete disappointment—everything tasted absolutely terrible, and the sushi didn’t seem fresh at all. The service was also terrible. Because of this experience at this branch, I won’t be visiting any of their other locations again for a long time.
