Simmon's Soul Food and BBQ

Ok this was a last minute Friday night blessing! The ribs eat more like beef and if you have that expectation they’re exceptional. They weren’t too dry or too saucy. We had black eyed peas and….SWEET POTATO CORN BREAD.

yall I’m from the south and I’m pissed that this is the first time I’m having it. This angel lady gave me a corner piece. Sweet potato made the cornbread carmelize on the edges.

I can’t wait to try the oxtail and collards!!!

for the food nasty!!! we spent over 100.00 for a family of4 ,my son is a diabetic he needs to eat something.. ribs that were tuff i did not get the coleslaw and potato salad i might have been able to say it was good!! over 100.00 on food that is going in trash.. don't waste your money, go do your self a favor go steakhouse ,>as much as i hate mcdonalds that would have been a better meal. the ribs were burnt.. what can i say it was over all a waste of 109 dollars with tip!! if i would have gotten this food in a ressturant i would have complained to them.terrible 1 word describes, the whole meal was awful, when i called he said you can come get the coleslaw and potato salad.. what? waste more gas!!!! no thanks!! will never go back EVER!!

We just stopped here for lunch. Two days ago we ate at one of the top rated BBQ joints in San Antonio, TX and this was better!! Pulled pork, collards, and sweet potato cornbread... fabulous!🎉

Highly recommend! We had the Ox Tails with greens, rice, mac and cheese, and beans. Everything was wonderful. My son had specially requested Ox Tails for dinner and this was the place I found to try them out. After he ate he told me " make sure you give them a 5 star review" which was kind of funny to me because he has never asked me to review anyone before. It is kind of pricey but was also quite a bit of food so we felt it was worth it. They were the biggest Ox Tails that I have ever had. We will definitely be back!

Can I just say this and leave it there!! This is what you call a true definition of it’s so good you slap yo mama plate for sure!! Ms. Phyllis you put your whole entire foot in them greens for sure!! Go check out Simmons cause if you don’t. You’re definitely missing out!!

I’ve been dying to try Simmons Soul Food & BBQ and I finally had the chance while I was at Marker 48 Brewing today. This is some of the best BBQ I’ve had in a long time. The ribs were HUGE and had a good smoke flavor, no bitterness with a good rub. The sauce is sweet and a little spicy just like I like it. The mac and cheese was gooey and the collard greens were tender, savory, smoky, and went perfect with the cornbread crumbled over it. We even got to try a secret menu item 🤫 that might be on the menu soon so be nice and you might get a sneak peak too. Five star food from very nice people!

The food was okay and I would say the service was good except they tried to rip us off twice on the same purchase. Lookat the price on the receipt and watch out for the $15 instead of 15% tip button

we absolutely love these people and their food. they make the best barbecue. every time we stop for music by them we always get their food even if we're not hungry. we'll take it home for the next day

The MOST AMAZING ribs! Oh yeah, and yummy black eyed peas too! Super friendly and great food!

One and done! Over priced overcooked tough brisket, soaked in average sauce. Baked beans out of a can. Pricing was all over the map, was supposed to be a 4th of July discount for orders over $60.00 ($10.00 off) to go containers were not appropriate for the brisket. Sorry was looking for a new place for brisket, I will keep looking!

I ordered bbq chicken instead I received fried chicken and one order was fried chicken with bbq sauce on it! The brisket was dryer than the Sahara desert! The customer service from the wife was horrible. She was rude, disrespectful and yelling at me. I requested a refund and they refused. The sides were nasty as well. Overall don’t go to this place because the food is nasty and tasteless & the owners wife lack customer service skills.

Soo Good, U Wanna Slap Yo’ Momma =] I found this Gem 💎 Finally, a soul food/southern spot close by! Soo much flavors and everything is soo good! That barbecue sauce, them oxtails, fried ribs and chicken wings & barbecue ribs… I can keep on. You have to stop by and experience the flavors 🫶🏼👌🏼 and let’s not forget, great customer service by the owner. The prices are good and they portions are big.

It’s fire 🔥 oxtail was good fall off the bone ! Rice was great and collard greens was nice I should have gotten 2 sides collard greens cornbread was dry and a lil hard but could be a bad batch I’ll definitely come back !!!!

I love this place but for the love of God put a dash of apple cider vinegar in them greens I promise u won't regret it.
