Azucar restaurant & bakery

We went to eat there last year and thought food was mediocre. I was going to try again because I always want to give things another chance but saw they were flying upside down US flag…therefore decided this place isn’t for me. Why don’t they fly upside down Cuban flag?

We went this past Friday for lunch: as a business owner we were treated as an annoyance- extremely disappointed as the Hispanic woman up front consistently spoke in an extremely rude manner, even though I'm bilingual & tried to be friendly! Furthermore the food was terrible: over fried bland chicken empanadas dry as cardboard with no papas o verduras or flavor!
We will never go back- there is a Cuban restaurant near Cape Coral Boulevard El Mambo that is far superior.
Edit- since writing this review we received a response from the owner which makes the situation even worse: they denied everything! AND never addressed their poor quality food. We will never be patronizing this business again- one that blames their customers for their own flaws while taking zero responsibility. VAMOS A El MAMBO!

We recommend this restaurant 100%. My family and I came on vacation from Broward County to Cape Coral, and we had breakfast at this bakery. The attention of the waitresses is 100%, very friendly, helpful, attentive. We all ordered different types of sandwich and they were all very delicious. Without a doubt we would have breakfast here again. Thank you

I visited my friends and restaurant owners Annalie and Michel and I have to tell them that I loved it, the flavor of the food is like home, Yahima's attention is wonderful. It was fantastic. Azúcar recently went through and change of ownership and the food is amazing!!!! 10/10 definitely recommend come here!! The drinks are great and the ropa vieja is to die for!! Best Cuban food in town!

My husband is Cuban and every time we visit Florida we make sure to visit a Cuban restaurant and bakery. Today we went to Azucar Restaurant and Bakery and were greeted in a very welcoming way. The food and service were great. The staff checked on us multiple times. We had Cuban bread and pastries and cafe con leche and it bought us back to memories of our past. The traditional Cuban music playing reminded my husband of his Mom and their journey as a family of 7 from Cuba to America ?! If you are honest with yourself, you know it is hard for a restaurant to compete with the Cuban food you make at home. We come here to be served at a cozy and unpretentious place that reminds us of home.

I like the simplicity of it, the non politically correct collage wall with our Cuban artists and just the feeling I get that I am sitting in a house and not in a modern restaurant full of invasive lights and updates.

I like their bar even more, and looking forward to the upcoming karaoke, which is much needed in this tedious area. They close later than other places. So right there..it is beating the other Cuban places.
