I really don't like leaving bad reviews but I also want people to understand what they will encounter and get for their money. This is a new location for a BBQ place that already exists here in Tampa. I had them marked in Yelp to try so when I pulled into this station to put air in my tires and saw the sign on the store, I thought, cool, let's try it now since we haven't had lunch! They are located inside the gas station and because there was both a line and then quite a few people waiting for food, social distancing was almost nil. We were hungry so we decided to wait since we saw they had at least 5 people working behind the counter. I already felt a little uneasy because there had to be at least 10-15 ppl in this area but at least they had on masks and most were standing a decent amount apart. I hoped we would get our food and get out rather quickly. Well, that didn't happen. When we got up to the counter to place our order, the music they had playing was so loud, I had to yell to try to place our order and had to try to hear the young guy when he asked questions as well. I asked about the BBQ chicken plate. I asked if the chicken was white meat and was it chopped. He said yes to both. I ordered that and my boyfriend got the rib plate. Everything is to-go but they had two tables pushed together in another area of the store which also was full of people. We tried to stand away from others to wait on our food, hard to do. As time went by, I became more uncomfortable. At one point, I decided to walk to the back to get a drink out of the drink coolers and pay for it at the regular check-out for the gas station. The drink station for Holy Hog was lined up with people leaning on it, waiting for their orders. On a positive note, the lady working behind the counter at Marathon was very nice and I did see her walk out one time to try to wipe down one area that multiple people had been leaning on, waiting for food. Nobody from the restaurant ever wiped anything down. A man who had been working behind the Holy Hog counter did come out into the crowd with a cooler, opened it up, and starting offering people canned beer out of the cooler. Some people got beer snd removed their mask to drink it while we waited. I felt really weird about this because these were people in a gas station, grabbing food to go, so they would be returning to their cars right after or while drinking a beer. I guess it was a nice gesture but I felt uncomfortable for a couple of reasons. We passed on the Miller Lite. At some point a lady who I guess is a real "freedom from tyranny' fighter" entered the store not wearing a mask, making her way around the crowd, chatting with people. I couldn't wait to get my food and get out of there! They had taken my name when I ordered, so we kept waiting for my name to be called. We had been in the store for around 45 mins when my boyfriend decided to walk back up to the counter to get a status on our order. I saw them stick a bag up in the back and wondered if it could be our food since we had been there for so long. Apparently they get your name but don't call it out! We probably waited an extra 5-10 minutes not knowing our food was ready. We got out and pulled over to the side of the parking lot of the Marathon gas station to eat in our car. We thought that at least we had some good BBQ after being in COVID Central. Nope, it was not to be! First, they had given us no napkins, no plastic ware, and no BBQ sauce. My boyfriend had to walk back into COVID's heaven to get these items. Time to dig in finally because we are starving. I open my chicken to find that it's actually a quarter chicken so only some white meat AND apparently it's chopped up just to fit the pieces in the box because it's all on the bone. Not really my thing AND now the bones are chopped up into the chicken. I picked around and ate what I could because I was starving! The BBQ sauce is very sweet so I just ate a little bit. That's good since I had a third of one of those tiny to go cup

Sssssssooooooooo I love barbecue... I've tried all the barbecue from Miami to Jacksonville and holy hog is in my top 3 they would be number one but the portions are small the Mac n cheese is creamy succulent and moist, the baked beans are firm not mushy the ribs Fa off the bone and are seasoned throughout you can eat them with out sauce the chocolate chip cookie is thin but soft. Capital tacos has the best chocolate chip cookie Munster but yes holy hog and get the gold sauce I was gonna get pics but before I knew it I ate it all You do need to wear a mask but it's wide open very spacious

Really good food! Too much to eat and had to get a Togo box.

The quality of the food is not what it once was. Customer service sucked big time. Pulled pork had chicken mixed in...incredibly fatty to the point of non edible.

The food here is excellent, no matter when we order and we have many, many times. The service has always been great, the food very tasty. The food portions are very large, so even a dinner for two can feed an additional guest.

Our first visit here was spot on so we were excited to come back a second time and try something different on the menu. We arrived at 11:40am on a Saturday. I tried ordering a chicken breast and was told the chicken wouldn't be ready for another 45min. My husband ordered a sandwich that included burnt ends, we were told there were no burnt ends so he ordered a carolina slaw pork sandwich and I ordered the spicy sausage. There was so much disappointment in what happened next..

Outstanding spot for tasty bbq. This location is absolutely outstanding. Looking forward to a return trip. This place has a great design.

The food was pretty bad and overpriced. The pulled pork had no flavor. The only thing that was good was the mac n cheese.

Previous to the pandemic every visit has been a 5 star experience. With that in mind...This time the brisket was ho hum in the taste department and the burnt ends were EXTREMELY dry. With that said I did take into account that they only had one visible employee and know that these are unprecedented times.

Holy Hog is WHOLLY delicious! We got the Sampler but substituted the chicken with the brisket. SUPER glad we did. We got four sides beans (YES!!!) fries (VERY GOOD) Mac n' cheese (RICH) and the CORN FRITTERS (OMG!!! MUST TRY!!!) Walked in and ordered ready is 5 minutes. We will definitely return

brisket was mostly fat, the potato salad was mixed with pasta, the mac and cheese was old dried up and grease saturated. worst ever and we gave them two tries and just gone from bad to uneatable. we threw all away and spent $50

Just ordered through Uber eats and a side was missing from the order. Called to let them know and all the guys said was "Sorry about that." Not a care in the world. Will not be going back ever again. Customer service apparently not a focus at this location.

I've eaten at three different holy big locations and this one was my favorite. Employees were super friendly and helpful. Everything was delicious and fresh. I usually, have one thing at bbq places that isn't perfect but all of the meats were perfectly cooked. The only thing that could have been improved is the sweet tea. I think it was a Lipton mix.

Called yesterday (July 4) at around 11:30. Asked if we could place an order for pickup around 1:30. The guy said to call back later, closer to our pickup time; to which I explained it’s an order for 8-10 people and asked what tine I should call. I also had some questions about the size/amount of sides that come with the orders because it doesn’t specify on the website. The guy sounded annoyed and said “I am working on 7 catering orders right now, just call back later”.Yea... no thanks!. Called somewhere else, ordered with no issues and had a delicious meal. This is no way to treat your customers. If you’re too overwhelmed to fill orders just politely explain you aren’t taking any more orders today.
