Honestly this is some of the best sushi I've ever had in the states, can't go wrong with anything on the menu and the staff is super friendly and goes above and beyond for their customers all the time. The only down side to the place is it's a little small so you might end up waiting for a table if you have a larger group, but there is plenty of seating at the bar.

Some of the best sushi I’ve had in the United States. An assuming hole in the wall in a strip mall that will provide you with an eating experience that will amaze you. Sushi is tremendously fresh and you can find types of fish you won’t find anywhere else. Great staff and tremendous food. A must try in Orlando.

BLUF: High Expectations finally met, and exceeded. Superb sushi outside of Orlando proper, with a more casual/neighborhood vibe, rivaling those award-winning formal restaurants at more than triple the price.
DETAILS: We were only in town for a few days, so I spent some time researching and reading up. Other than those Michelin ones, Wa stuck out uniquely due to repeated mentions of its casual, simple store front location contrasted by its consistent rants and raves about its fish freshness and solid service/waitstaff. Oh, and the fresh tuna head on display is a testament to their commitment to freshness.
Ordered and pictured were my Omikase “Lite”, paired with a unique Japanese beer that I’ve never had before and better than any Sapporo or Kirin I’ve had. Also ordered - my son’s bluefin tuna experience and grand sashimi.
1st Course - trio of berry salad, roasted bamboo shoot, and wagyu strips with tofu. Good start, nothing spectacular. 7/10
2nd Course - sashimi of 2 kinds of toro tuna, red snapper, and yellowtail belly (never had before). Here we go… the freshness immediately pops and melts in your mouth. The belly was the star. Accompanied by real grated wasabi and house made soy. Superb. 9/10
3rd Course - nigiri of toro, Robyn fish, thorny head, striped jack, uni, ebi, and scallop. Again, freshness exudes. The Robyn fish and ebi were the standouts… the natural sweetness made it quite memorable. 9/10
4th Course - mackerel with miso and ginger. Good, but nothing extraordinary. It was good, but nothing special per se… 7/10
5th Course - matcha panna cotta with salted cherry blossom leaf. Very good… obviously never had the blossom before. The texture altogether, made the dish. 8.5/10
Extra Dish - grand sashimi… toro, salmon, hamachi dried with kelp, amberjack, maguro, and red snapper. Again, superb. The dried kelp gave the fish a different texture and umami. Fantastic. 9/10
Our waitress was fantastic - she recommended the two distinct beers to me, and took the time to explain each dish, its accompaniments, all with a smile and demeanor of just right-conversation. She also explained my son’s bluefin tuna dish, complete with a tuna fish model to explain each cut!
Only slight cons - the sushi bar chefs were polite enough when talked to/asked questions, but didn’t really say anything or ask us any questions… almost a bit cold. Perhaps they could’ve brushed the nigiri on the omikase with some shoyu or ponzu - that would have gone a long way. Also, the bathrooms were not the tidiest.
Regardless, one of the very few top 3 to top 5 sushi places I’ve been to for decades… I would almost rank this place (located in an unassuming strip mall, no less) higher than some of those places. When the food is so good that it either brings back a wave of such strong childhood memories in which food was the center star or it makes you pause and just savor that fresh melt in your mouth flavor that it almost makes you cry… that’s how you know, it’s good.
So if you’re ever in the Orlando Castleberry area, check this one out. Thank you, Wa, for giving me a sushi experience that I haven’t had exceeded in a very long time.

From the moment we walked in, this place exceeded every expectation. I brought my son and my dad for a special lunch out, and it turned into one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever shared.
The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and beautifully done — the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable and excited to be there. The staff? Absolutely phenomenal. Kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.
Now let’s talk about the sushi… hands down the BEST sushi I have ever had. Every bite was incredibly fresh, perfectly prepared, and bursting with flavor. You can taste the quality immediately. The presentation was stunning, and the ingredients were top-tier.
This wasn’t just lunch — it was an experience. Three generations at one table, all completely impressed. We will absolutely be back. If you’re looking for stellar sushi and an unforgettable atmosphere, this is the place.

I drove an hour for Wa Sushi and I have zero regrets. The sukiyaki (seasonal menu) tasted just like my childhood. The sushi was fresh and delicious. I would absolutely come back. The staff was so friendly as well.

I’ve been a regular since their previous location. The sushi is always fresh and delicious, with some fish even imported from Japan. Their lunch prices are very reasonable, too. I only wish there were a few more options on the kitchen menu.
