My husband and I spent our first wedding anniversary here for dinner. He enjoyed the scallops and I had the surf and turf. Did not disappoint. Service was excellent and the fact they have a live piano player nightly was nice .

A family favorite for many years. Incredible seafood and you must try their fried chicken. Great for date night and then walk to the beach for sunset. They do however NEED to bring back the relish tray.

Recently went for a special occasion. We have been throughout the years but been about 5 years since our last visit as we live about 40 min North. Made reservations walked in and place was almost empty, man who was at the host stand before welcoming us saw we were holding a box and immediately said it that a cake? We said yes we're here to Celebrate a Birthday. He said we can't have outside cakes or desserts our Manager doesn't allow it. He offered to place it in the fridge for us...then shifted focus from the devil dessert to greeting us and getting us seated. While our server was great the overall vibe was to literally not be able to do anything differently that wasn't stated on their menu.. which was a paper handout that I found quite tacky for that style and price point of a restaurant. The kids menu was pretty lame, cheese pizza, shrimp or flattened out pieces of battered chicken they consider tenders( our server even commented not many people like them) we had to order bc the other 2 choices weren't options for our son. Chicken was ok nothing terrible definitely not a tender. My husband asked about having fries ( which comes w the kids meal so they are available) as 1 of his sides since out of the 4 they offer he only liked 1. Was told no, he would have to be charged $7 for a side! Lol I ordered the chicken piccatta which I have always seen served with pasta, dish came with just the chicken and sauce. So I asked if I could purchase a side of pasta to add and again, no! I appreciate the history of this restaurant being on the Beach for over 70 years but owners and management need to get up to date with their service standards and willingness to accommodate their guests. With so many other options, ill take my business where they actually want and appreciate it.

If you want a dinner listening to classic piano music this is the place to go. Their home made slaw is the most unique I have ever had, the scallop entree made my mouth water, and to top it off, better Key Lime Pie than the Key’s!
This is a must visit.

I asked at the desk of our old-Florida motel the Sta N Pla for a dark-wood place where we could get a good steak and a strong cocktail. They said this was it. They were right. From the 40’s Modern woodwork, decor, art and bamboo garden patio to the standard attired servers and bartender, the Beachcomber is still what was always good about old Florida. The menu is also a top notch throwback to be enjoyed for exactly what it is. I’ve been back on every visit to Clearwater beach. I sit at the far corner of the bar, where the regulars and the piano player are easy to engage and a quiet conversation can be held with one’s date or the bartender. Cheers.

We sat on the patio deck shown in the picture. Perfect sunset and quiet atmosphere. Service was the best ever. We did make reservations and valet parking.

There are certain things that I value when I eat out. I find them less and less these day, so when I do, it's noteworthy. The Beachcomber ticks the boxes that are important to me.

These are the elements I value and am happy to spend on in a restaurant:
1. Attention to selection of ingredients
2. Adjustment of menu depending on availability of quality ingredients
3. High level kitchen execution
4. Prices that - when viewed in conjunction with product - seem fair and not like you're being scammed
5. Professional, efficient, honest, knowledgeable service staff (barrenders & food servers)

If you hit those notes, a serene, friendly and comfortable atmosphere can make it a great night out.

My fiancee and I walked in off the street. To be fair - she chose the restaurant. The hostess seated us at a small 2-top in an otherwise empty room with 5-6 larger tables / booths. Matthew was our server, and upon entry, he immediately told us we were free to sit at any of the other tables we wanted, so he ended up moving us to a 6-top round in a vinyl, corner booth. It felt like where Tony Soprano would be seated. Great start! I've worked as a professional server, cook and bartender. From start to finish this place nailed it all. We got:
Drinks: a Manhattan, Sazerac and 2 glasses of wine
Food: Escargots, Scallops, Grouper and salads/veggies

Matthew was meticulous in describing the effort and expertise involved in preparing each dish. Literally every drink and every dish was cash-money delicious. Even the tomato quarter on my side salad was ridiculously ripe, sweet and acidic. Someone's paying attention to the less glamorous ingredients when they come in! Thank you! The mushroom duxelle was crazy rich and delicious, and even the toasted baguette rounds were buttered & toasted to perfection. Same with the fish, scallops and green beans, which were perfectly al dente. I'm a stickler on my cocktails, have worked in craft bars around the country - these were absolutely solid and came out within 60 seconds every time. Everyone was on their game - kitchen to server to bartender - and when that happens, it's a beautiful thing.

Don't despair at the location - the block where it's located implies it might be a tourist trap - it's 100% for real. Old school service & quality control. Matthew was great - he's been there for 20 years and knows the menu inside out. Trust his recommendations and appreciate this restaurant experience which is representative of what eating out used to be like before everything was valued on hype. The Beachcomber delivers the goods. It's pricey, but you don't walk out feeling like a mark. A great experience! Thank you!

One of my family’s favorite places to treat ourselves to on our annual vacation. Fresh seafood, great steak. If you’re looking for the best spot on the beach…this is it.

We had a phenomenal meal. The escargot was probably the best I have ever had. Our server, Nathan, I would give 5 STARS and would ask for when we return. We had the lobster tails and filet. Both were cooked to perfection.
