I went by some of the previous reviews and was disappointed. The place was dark not due to the lighting but just dreary. The owner, I think it was her was more interested in selling the art work. I had the octopus as my appetizer which was average. The empanada was nice and had flavor. For my Entree I had the Black calamari Paella. After having tasted many paella dishes in Spain, this one lacked flavor and was not visually appealing, Needless to say I skipped dessert It could have been one off, but I do not think I will go back. There are many other restaurants that offer flavorful food at a better price with ambiance.
Good place to eat if you're walking downtown Clearwater! Parking is difficult.. Empanadas were very good!

Delicious first visit to this small, family owned hidden gem in downtown Clearwater. Perfect for dinner prior to our concert at the park only a couple blocks away. We had beef empanadas, meatballs, octopus, and a cheese platter. All were authentic and very good. Sangria was homemade. Great art on the walls, too. Prices were very reasonable.

Our first visit was wonderful. Authentic dishes and fast, friendly service. Sangria was homemade and delicious (not too sweet like some you find). We tried beef empanadas, octopus, meatballs, and a cheese platter. Every bite was delicious! Lots of artwork on the walls for viewing while you dine. Place was super busy prior to a concert at Coachman Park a couple blocks away, but they did a great job of serving everyone in time for the show. Great hidden gem.
The food was excellent, the staff was very nice, and we enjoyed ourselves. We had empanadas, the cheese plate, and the house salad. The price for the cheese plate and no free refills on iced tea were our only two complaints. We will be back.
Fantastic paella made to order..great date vibe. Privacy...great service..hot food fresh..full of veggies and meats. Lots of art. Beautiful server. Reasonable price.

Definitely something totally different and spectacular, with some very good Spanish tapas, the best oil-free empanadas and with a great variety, the seafood paella I highly recommend was delicious, as were the famous aiolis and bravas potatoes. Of the desserts, taste a wonderful almond cake, what I like most is that they serve them with ice cream, creating a perfect combination ?
Vegetarian options: I visited this restaurant with a friend who recommended it to me, it is super cozy, for vegetarians it consists of everything from delicious spinach empanadas to the delicious vegetable paella, I loved it ?

Just OKWe went to Hispania on a Thursday evening when our intended restaurant was unexpectedly closed. Hispania wasn’t busy, so we headed there. Our server, who appeared to be an owner, was handling the front of house by herself and seemed a bit harried. The place is pleasantly decorated and spacious. We started with a carafe of Sangria. It was nice enough but had a general taste of fruit juice, even though there was no fresh fruit in the jug, not even the tiniest bit of pulp. Was it just from a bottle or box? In any case, it needed a couple ounces of brandy or Cointreu to give it a fuller flavor. For food we had garlic shrimp for a starter. They looked a bit lonely and dry on the dish. The flavor was pleasant enough. For mains we had paella. The chicken was dry and overcooked and not much in the way of flavor. Some more seasoning would have been appreciated. We also had a pair of empanadas, highly recommended by the server. The pastry was dry and one was only half-filled.The menu isn’t very large, typically a good sign that a restaurant concentrates its efforts and does those fewer things very well. I think we tried enough of a cross section of this menu—enough so that I don’t have a desire to try more.

Outstanding as always. The aioli potatos, are my go-to starters, and the wine they carry is so good. I also love that their empanadas are baked rather than fried. If you want to enjoy a real spanish meal surrounded by art in a beautiful environment this is the spot. The downtown area has expanded toward the water super nice for walking around now too!

If you want good Spanish food, this is not the place. Very limited menu that contains food from Costco warmed up in the microwave. I think the owner really likes lots of sugar everywhere, even meat balls tasted like dessert!
