The Spotted Donkey Cantina

They kept saying they are open and they weren't. We made reservations and kept moving the reservation to later hoping they would be open, but they remained closed. Wasted an hour and a half waiting for this place!

We stopped in for a bite after a long day. The cantina shooters were amazing! Large hole, jalapeños, battered, and stuff with cheese, and a shooter glass with a tasty dip. Yum! The enchiladas were great. The churro beans were perfect. The guacamole was a little heavy on the onions, but otherwise very good. Kristen, our server, was helpful, prompt, attentive, and friendly! Will be going back.

I’m not a content writer, influencer, or editorial manager of a snobbish magazine, so I will give you my honest review here. It is up to you to go there or not. We surely won't go there ever again and won’t recommend our friends or family members to go there either. If I could leave no stars on this review, I would do it!

The Salmon I ate had a super spicy sauce on top (it looked like cranberry sauce mixed with Habanero—it was nasty). I couldn’t enjoy the taste of the tostada and the rest of the ingredients. And it looks like they love to pour it on every dish they prepare because other dishes had the same unpleasant sauce.
The guy who served us asked if we wanted complimentary chips and salsa, and we never got anything. The drinks were good, but overpriced. Yes the dishes and pretty and food has good presentation, you will see it in the photos that people post in other reviews but don’t let that fool you. We left with a big bill and a burning taste in our mouth which was not appreciated. We left a small tip (that's what you deserve)but honestly I felt like leaving nothing at all because you don’t recommend a trashy dish to someone who comes with their little baby to your restaurant. Don’t waste your precious time and hard earned money in this place. Go to Taco Bus instead it will save your time and money.

The experience we had today at Spotted Donkey was excellent thanks to Juvi (our server) what an amazing attitude and bubbly personality he had!
The food was not too shabby either…I recommend the Kicking Nachos…so delicious!

Definitely recommend this place! The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the fajitas with extra meat and shared them, the portion was more than enough. The drinks were top notch as well; the skinny coconut margarita was so good! Service was excellent (Renee was our waitress), and the atmosphere was just as great. Highly recommend!

Worst mahi-mahi taco ever tasted? When I complained it seem like it took forever for them to make it right. I cannot recommend this place at all.

So Far the absolute best food and drinks I've had in Clearwater. The price is reasonable and the food is amazing. Angel did a fabulous job in service and I couldn't be happier!

First time of me coming to this restaurant wasn't a good experience for me at all. I came with a group of friends an although the service from the waiter was good our food wasn't. Something about the beef didn't sit well with me an when it came time to pay the bill the owner wouldn't accommodate us by taking our orders off the bill. Which I thought was pretty standard for a restaurant to do. I didn't even eat my food. Along with some of my friends. It wasn't tasty at all. But the manager was the worst part. He argued us down an then tried to give us a 37$ discount. The tab was 500. I felt like he thought we just didn't want to pay when in reality we just wanted the food we didn't eat off the bill. Oh well I know for next time. I won't be coming here again.

Came here with a group of friends from another state. The waiter was super nice and attentive, but the food was not good at all. Half of the group ordered steak & once it came out the steak had a very bad taste. We could not eat it, it tasted expired. We only took a bite and let the manager know. The manager came out and did not want to remove it from our check when we only took a bite to taste. We spoke to the manager and he argued with us saying he was going to charge us and only give us a discount. He walked off and said “well this is y’all’s check and if not I’m going to call security”. He did eventually take it off. But he was very rude & the food was honestly bad. If you like authentic Mexican food or even Tex Mex this food is not it.

The server was great that we had. But the Owner/Manager on duty was very rude after our table did not like the steak which tasted expired. We brought it up to his attention and he decided to argue back and forth with the table and threaten to call security. As a Mexican the food taste nothing close to Mexican food go somewhere else for authentic tasty food.

I was turned away/not served due to my out of state (SC) ID looking fake. Mind you I am 30. I have no reason or desire to walk around with a fake ID. I also used this same ID to get through the airport to get here, booked an uber, and ate at various restaurants here since Wednesday. I get safety, but this is also a tourist place. Have factual procedures to check IDs instead of turning away a customer.
