I had booked and paid for this hotel in advance of our trip to Ireland and the UK. I couldn’t be more pleased with the friendliness and level of support from everyone from the kitchen to the Pub, restaurant and housekeeping. This hotel is certainly one I would stay at again if I found myself in the area. You won’t be sorry for choosing the Merchant House Hotel.
A must for everyone that can afford it

The hotel will not be open till 2024 due to the hurricanes. I had paid in full prior to arrival only to find out the hotel IS CLOSED UNTIL 2024. We did receive a refund, but had to locate another hotel. It was a 3 star hotel and the price was doubled.
Don’t risk losing your money! I booked with them in September 2022 for March 2023 spring break. Just a few weeks before the trip, they canceled my reservation. I never received my reimbursement. I have had to open multiple tickets with Expedia and I still don’t have my reimbursement over 4 weeks later. This is what I was told: “Hello Expedia Traveler, It is with sadness that we alert you the Plaza Resort and Spa has sustained significant damage from Hurricane Ian and Hurricane Nicole. We have been informed the Resort will not be open in time for your visit to Daytona Beach. Your reservation has been cancelled and you will be fully refunded within 5-7 business days. We thank you for your understanding during this very difficult time for our former staff and our regular guests. We hope to be open in a year and hope to have an opportunity to welcome you back. Thank you, Plaza Resort & Spa.” No reimbursement received. Terrible experience.
Smashing service and the food is delicious! Thanks to the chef again. This is our second evening at the bar and we could not be happier.
Good food. Convenient for the hotel
We had booked for the Daytona 500, but were unable to go due to a death in the family. We canceled TWO WEEKS before arrival date which was more than enough time to get our $500 deposit back. We still have not received the deposit and either no one answers the phone or I get hung up on after a few rings. The two detailed messages I managed to leave have not been answered.
Great hotel not far from all that Salisbury has to offer. Great very helpful and friendly staff Room was lovely, free parking, although only room for 8 cars. Lovely bar area, and the breakfast was great, with plenty of choice, and nice and hot…brilliant stay ?
This resort is beautiful and has the potential to be so much better. The foyer and the shared space is extremely beautiful but as for the rooms, the rooms remind you of motels. Also, you have to use a wristband card to access the elevators and your room, which are not sensitive enough and need major upgrades. I’d love to visit after remodeling has been done.

We reserved over 80 rooms, and our group was very happy. Mike Sandler and Natasha Hardie were on top of the game. They were so helpful and courteous. We had a dinner on Friday night for 130 people and the food was so good. No complaints from anyone at all. The hotel was close to all of our functions, so we parked our cars and walked to all events.
Unfriendly staff, 1880 not staffed, market place closed, blocked us into/out of our rooms with mattresses, carpet, bed frames, TVs. Screws stuck into our shoes from the hallway. A complete mess.......
Very disappointed . I wish I can get my money back . Rooms and corridors of our floor was smelling of damn air. There were furniture all over hall way . Normally I donot complain but it was night mare
Rooms need to be remodeled. Sliding door and room door had gaps allowing all noise to come in. Bathroom needs to be updated. None of the restaurants were open. The hotel did not provide coffee. Staff was working on rooms on the same floor, not allowing sleep.
Not impressed at all. I understand there was a hurricane but we were able to book at $170/night plus resort fee ($57) without any knowledge of the actual condition of the hotel. The hallways are packed with furniture, the 2/3 working elevators were occupied with staff carrying out old rugs/furniture and the stairwell was completely blocked by furniture, which I’m sure is a fire hazard. The staff clearing things are wearing N95 masks, I would assume to protect themselves from the conditions of this place. Everything smells musty, it’s in shambles, and yet we’ve paid full price plus resort fee with no warning of what we were coming into. The front desk staff was completely disengaged, no eye contact, no welcome. I would have happily stayed anywhere else at a fraction of the cost had we been warned what we we’re getting ourselves into.
