They are fairly new to the area and definitely needs some work.

The taste of the pizza is great and well executed. It did take a very long time to get the pizza, over an hour wait for a small pie of pizza and it wasn't even busy.

Service really needs improvement.

Big fail! I’m a local and eat the local restaurants daily! Big big disappointment for me ! First miss was one of pizzas not even cut, not a big deal as first mistake on my part was taking it to go. Second you get a mini pizza for over $25 dollars! I would pay $150 for a good pie , this is a joke, pizza was subpar . Sorry guys horrible , you gotta do better then this to stay alive here. Will not get my business anymore , Sazio’s one slice bigger then whole pizza and way better. This place would not even make my top 10 pizza places in Delray .

We went to Gestos with great expectations. We were greeted by a swarm of servers and noted that there were no diners however it was 5 pm.Our server quickly brought us menus and offered us seltzer water for six dollars a bottle. We asked for seltzer out of the gun that was not available because they had their own special seltzer. That started a series of clashes with the menu and pricing. We got our seltzer water and I asked for a glass of house Chardonnay and it quickly appeared at a price point of $19 per glass. I was dismayed I wanted a more reasonable price for a house Chardonnay in the neighborhood of $10-$12 but none were available. We split a Caesar salad, which was very nice and an easy split enough for two. And then we ordered their focaccia, which was pleasant as well. We had to ask specifically for oil, vinegar, salt, and Parmesan, and they were all provided when asked. We split a pizza., Plop which was just fine. As we left the restaurant, we expressed our displeasure that a glass of house wine was priced at $19 and we mentioned that they should find a more reasonable price point for their house wine. It was an upscale pizza experience, however the exorbitant price of house wine will prevent us from returning.

Just opened Neopolitan style pizza place in the old Amar location and prior to that, the old(now moved to coral gables?) Scuola Vecchia. Gesto, which is owned by Amar, uses the same oven as Scuola Vecchia, which is wood burning, so that’s a good thing as most others use gas. We ordered the simple Margarita to taste the pizza and not necessarily a bunch of toppings. The sour dough pizza, made with imported flour was very very good. The sauce was bright, with the right amount of acidity and the mozzarella was tasty and in the right proportion. In an area with tough competition like Le Sorrel, How ‘Ya Dough’n, Rossano’s and Baciami(which is the only other wood fired oven I know of in the area) this is definitely on par. I hope they are hugely successful as it’s a great addition to the ave.
