Grelma surprised me. Staying in Delray Beach from Washington, D.C. for two weeks, I was on the search for the town's best bakery. Yelp sent me to Grelma.

Walking up, it's in a strip mall, but what isn't in a strip mall in Delray Beach? The pastries are behind glass and they are BIG and over the top. Because of this, I didn't think they looked good. BUT I was wrong. I ordered the chocolate bomboloni (an Italian doughnut) and wow. The texture was very moist and the chocolate so creamy. It was excellent!

They also sell coffee, sandwiches, and an array of sweet and some savory pastries.

The coffee here is so good and they have a variety of pastries. It's hard to pick just one. I tried the crema croissant 🥐 and it was delicious. The people working were nice and helpful as well. Definitely your neighborhood bakery.

When you are craving an authentic taste of Italy, head to the South Delray Shopping Center on Federal Highway. Tucked into an unassuming spot between Pinch a Penny Pool and a dentist office is the hidden gem, Grelma.

The family that owns Grelma is from Italy. I found out about this charming bakery from an Instagram photo showcasing their amazing Italian sandwiches. By the time I finally made it to them I just needed an afternoon pick me up. The owner made me a cappuccino and I carefully studied their delicious selection of pastries that included crostatine, stella, cheesecake, cookies, and strawberry stars. After much contemplation I ended up choosing an enormous chocolate croissant that I couldn't even finish in one sitting. It was soft and flaky and filled with melt in your mouth chocolate.

Grelma also sells loaves of bread like baguettes, Italian focaccia, and milk bread, along with pizza. One of their top sellers is trays of lasagna that you can reheat at home. Whether you are craving sweet or savory, they have just the thing to satisfy.

I Have to say, I'm blown away!

I decided on a blue berry muffin and the pasticciotti .. the muffin was light and they don't skimp on fresh blue berries.. homerun!

This was the first time trying pasticciotti..now, I'm hooked!

Incredible!! Literally everything we ordered here was incredible (bought about 12 pastries for Christmas). Probably the best bakery I’ve ever been to. HIGHLY recommend 🙂

I really enjoyed this place! I wanted donuts but they didn't have them today. But I was surprised with their other food items. Must try this place!! Highly recommend. Great prices too!

I’ve been going to Grelma at least once or twice a week for the last month! Time to write a honest review….. Despite being in a competitive neighborhood of several French bakeries, this place SHINES! These prices and consistency of quality CANNOT BE BEAT. I wish I could attach a photo to this post, but whatever I buy never lasts very long as it is quickly and is already consumed. I live in Boynton, but I will NEVER go to Paris Baguette for pastries or the French Bakery for sandwiches ever again, I will drive past them all to get to Grelma. This place is incredibly authentic, the espresso is always perfection, best cannoli of my life, most authentic sfogliatella in south Florida, I can’t help but get a loaf of bread every week, and the SANDWICHES ARE SO FRESH. My Italian-American husband has fallen in love with this little gem and anyone who says the food isn’t quality has no perception of taste and should just keep getting their lasagna from the frozen food section of the grocery store to better suit the refinement of their palate, or lack there of… The owners here invest so much care into everything they create and serve, it is clear that nothing is without thought or consideration-Nothing is flavorless or improperly priced. Every week that passes I end up spending more money here because I add on one more little thing that the next time I visit I just can’t bear to leave without. My only issue I’ve ever had is that I get hot easily and couldn’t eat my sandwich in the shop over the weekend because the air conditioning wasn’t cold enough when we visited at peak 90 degree weather, but the other patrons didn’t seem to care, so we just changed our order to go. Worth it. Oh- My other complaint is that they give themselves two days off and are closed Monday and Tuesday. * edit apparently only closed Monday my boss must’ve been mistaken* Potential patron: please spend money here so they can hire a Monday part time baristas and bakery chefs so I can come here more often during my work week. Do not hesitate. Go to Grelma. Support this local business. You will not regret it. 1000/10 Perfezione.

I’m Italian and when I miss Italian food I’ll just come here and speak in Italian with Massi and try amazing food! Love focaccia and all the desserts!

Massi the owner is a world class gentleman! He always takes care of you and makes you feel welcome when you walk in. Aside from his character he happens to serve the best food in Boca! If you’re looking for a great authentic Italian bakery this a must see!! Go check it out, you won’t be disappointed!
