I’m writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration after a visit to your Häagen-Dazs location in Delray Beach, Florida. What should have been a simple and enjoyable family outing turned into a hurtful experience of discrimination and disrespect.

While speaking Spanish with my wife’s father, who is from Argentina, we noticed the server speaking to us in a condescending and dismissive tone — as if we couldn’t understand English. Their demeanor shifted noticeably once they heard us speaking Spanish, and they continued to treat us with discomfort and a lack of basic courtesy. This wasn’t imagined — it was felt across our entire family, and it was consistent with other experiences we had in the area that day.

Let me be clear: We are Americans. We are bilingual. And we deserve the same respect and service as anyone else walking through your doors. To be made to feel “less than” for speaking another language — especially in a diverse state like Florida — is unacceptable.

We won’t be returning to that location, and unless this matter is addressed seriously, we will consider taking our business elsewhere altogether. I hope Häagen-Dazs as a company takes pride in creating a welcoming environment for all families, regardless of their language or cultural background.

I would appreciate a response from management explaining how you intend to address this issue and ensure your employees are trained to treat all customers with dignity and respect.

My 5 year old son dropped his ice cream as soon as the employee handed it to him and they made me buy another one. Never seen that happen in all my years. Mentioned it and the girl said their ice cream isn’t free and that the owner wouldn’t like it. We all know the owner wouldn’t know and it was her decision that she made in that moment. No problem. 1-star review harms the business way more than the few dollar ice cream lol. I’m sure the owner will love that. I didn’t catch her name but she was wearing glasses and was quite unsightly.

Fix the attitude of your employees!

My husband was asking a simple question about signing up for the rewards and the cashier was having an attitude as well as the other lady that was gonna give us the free mini cup.

I absolutely love the ice cream here, however I had a less than great experience with (read on her name tag) at the Atlantic Avenue location. Me and my girlfriend came in at 9:50, ten minutes until close, which mykayla made sure we were aware of. As my girlfriend ordered and got her ice cream, Mykayla yelled at her from the register to get her attention to pay. As my girlfriend went to the register, she told Mykayla that that had been a rude way to call her over. Mykayla replied that it was not rude, she was trying to call her attention. My girlfriend asked for a manager to speak to, was informed that there was none, wished the workers a goodnight, to which Mykayla rolled her eyes. The worst service and treatment we have received.

Walked in at 9:40 pm asking for a milkshake and the girl told me no because they close in 10 minutes, mind you they were closing in 20 minutes and I'm sure if a manager was there she would've had to make it. I work in food myself, at a quick service restaurant, that also closes at 10 pm, one day a group of 5 kids came in around 9:50 pm each asking for a smoothie and I still made it (without manager there). Customer service sucks!

I live across the street and have more bad experiences than good at this place. I like Haagen Daz ice cream but only one woman and one guy give good service but the main problems are the hygiene--and not enough hand washing, thetemperature of the ice cream at times when it is way too soft like today --i should not have bought a pint of Vanilla because it new but the temperature in the case has so much humidity it was defrosting and the temp in the store was also too hot. Additionally the cleaning stuff is kept too close to the cups and tops and paper they put in with the ice cream --they should be separated so that no cleaning fluid touches what the ice cream is being served in. i asked to have the manager call me and no one takes this seriously. i have tried and tried with the hopes that it will change.
