The restaurant is in a shopping center so I was a little skeptical at first. The inside is cute and there was nice music. But honestly I was amazed with the food. We ordered a few tiraditos, the house salad, a sushi roll and the salmon tartare. Everything had amazing flavor and the portion sizes were incredible. My husband and I have big appetites and we exercise so we always complain about portion sizes and such little protein. Here they give you generous amounts of salmon and tuna in every dish. Our waitress, Jennifer, was also super attentive, very pleasant, and made great recommendations. The only downside is that they only have sake, wine and beer but I ordered a white wine that was actually pretty good. Other than that I highly recommend this place. Delicious food :)

This was a fabulous find for our short stay in Miami. The food was delicious. Our appetizer was great and brought to us in a timely manner. The sushi rolls were all wonderful. This is a hidden little gem that is a must go to if you are looking for a nice sushi restaurant. The quaint little restaurant was nice for our date.

Tried for the first time day for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Almost every roll has cream cheese which I don't like, however, they accommodate modification and so we removed the cream cheese and the Salmon and Tuna Delight was delicious! We also tried the miso soup and it was very good. The service we had was very good. They were attentive and kind. We will definitely be returning soon as the location is great and the ambiance of the place is inviting.

We have been at Kokai a few times and the food and service has always been great. The yaki meshi (fried rice) is my daughter’s favorite. Jennifer is always super attentive and nice. 100% recommended.

I normally don't leave a review, but I feel like I had to because it was such a disappointment. We had reservations for 5pm this Saturday for my mom's birthday for party of 11 people. Right off the bat , when we were seated, there was the biggest half alive half dead roach on the floor in the middle of the whole restaurant (I should've took a picture of it but I'm scared of roaches. ) We had to tell a server to come to Please pick it up and she didn't want to cause she was scared so she had to call somebody else to come pick it up . Already very iffy. The sushi and the food was all right. They were a little bit more on the expensive side at $20 on average for a roll. The service was horrendous. When we got there, there was only one other table, so it's not like they were swamped. We were never refilled on water. We were never asked if we needed more water ever. He never came to ask how everything's going he didn't bring utensils, napkins, sauces, nada. Service was mediocre at best. The guy that took our order , took it while leaning on the wall with one leg up as if we were taking up his time. I have to reiterate that this was not a cheap outing. This was a 350+ bill and it was such a disappointment. We chose this Restaraunt based on the reviews and because we wanted to try something new and not go to our usual spot, which obviously is a big mistake . What a waste of money . It's just not that not good enough and service is horrible
