I am honored to represent this place and our owner Clark, as a server. Come to Sunrise to Sunset for your self and see why we are a staple in this community.

This place is called Sunrise to Sunset because that’s how long it takes to get your food! Sat at the bar. It was busy, but not crazy. Took 45 minutes for eggs over easy, grits, sausage and toast. They need to hire a true line cook that can work on several tickets at once. Food comes, no silverware, no coffee refill. Waitresses walk by oblivious. Had to yell to get service. Meal was $14.77 and coffee was 3.95! $24 with tax and tip. Food was good if you are looking for a nice way to spend an entire morning. They did try to offer me some kind of discount card for the wait, but I’m old and have very little time left to waste.

I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for some time and have always considered it very good. However, my most recent visit was deeply concerning due to significant lapses in food safety and hygiene.

While sitting at the bar, I had a clear view into the kitchen. I witnessed the cook handling various foods—including cheeses, onions, and breads—without washing hands or changing gloves between tasks. This led to direct cross-contamination. Sadly, my order of French toast tasted overwhelmingly of onions and was inedible.

The most alarming practice I observed involved the batter mixture. The cook repeatedly dipped bare hands into a large, open container of batter and then returned the unused portion to the container, uncovered, for future use. This is a severe breach of basic food handling protocols.

I am sharing this because food businesses must adhere to non-negotiable health and safety standards. Based on what I saw, I cannot recommend this establishment until these critical issues are addressed.

Unexpected and amazing. I am there now, and once again I’ve been served another perfectly cooked omelette and hashbrowns. Very reasonable pricing. This is my seventh time here in two months. Staff, like my server today, Kara, are
so very friendly, efficient, and happy to be helpful. I will keep coming back!
