I had my first job many years ago at a pizza tasting event. We found that Pizza Hut was trying to see if local kids liked their pizza in a predominantly Sicilian town in Connecticut. I was already hooked on pizza but it opened my eyes to other concoctions. In college, I worked at a local pizza place and we made the dough fresh and tossed it in the air. It taught me to appreciate quality ingredients and the skill and benefit involved in having tossed dough.Flash forward to Groveland, the city that I live in and love. At a Juneteenth event, I sampled a local pizza. it was clear that this was home spun and made. The entire family were wearing matching tee shirts with their name on it: Chefing it Up! Pride emanated from them all.Chefing it Up is right downtown but it’s also easy to miss. It’s on 115 S. Lake Street and its entry blends into the building. Once inside though you are transformed into smells that are already making my stomach growl. A newly added antique bar is being set to allow me to wet my whistle so to speak. It is predominantly a take out place and it’s also well worth the journey. Check them out if you will as it’s Santa approved!

Just moved to FL from NY and was desperately looking for a pizzeria that tasted like home, and this place definitely gave me a BIG APPLE HUG!! Stopped by a few minutes ago and got a large pepperoni and sausage pie and garlic knots and when I tell you I died and went to heaven… SOOOO GOOD!!! Will for sure be a returning customer.

This is a true new york experience right in the middle of florida! Pizza was incredible, crispy bottomed foldable new york style dough, excellent sauce, freshest ingredients...the cheese was delicious. Chicken wings cooked perfectly with a crispy outside and juicy meat with a freakin AMAZING teriyaki sauce. The antipasto was incredible and fresh, the homemade balsamic with a slight sweetness...wow. the reviews didnt lie, this is a true hidden gem. The owners are awesome people too, and the cozy place has a back patio to eat at as well with overhead lighting. Its like i was up north again at a local pizzeria!Vegetarian options: The list ingredients clearly and the Margherita pizza is an amazing no meat optionParking: You can park in the street or at a couple lots across the street. Its in the middle of downtown so parking is a little tedious but shouldnt be a deterrent
