Worst bbq in the area no real pit anymore the food quality is horrible, when ed Mathews owned this restaurant it was the best in Polk county fla. Now the meats have no real bbq flavor and served cold and the recipe to the beans have changed so much they are horrendous. No quality no value and high cost. The best they could do is closed the doors.

This post is more about Mariah than Sonny’s itself! While Sonny’s is one of our regular go to restaurants, today was wayyyy more pleasant with Mariah’s service. My husband was hesitant to order the all you can eat ribs because we’ve had bad experiences with the waiter/waitress never returning once it’s time to place the next order…but not with Mariah. She was timely, then she overheard me asking if he’d received his bread as she was walking by (which he did and ate it before I could tell) and offered him one. Our food came out promptly and she anticipated our every need, then come to find out this was her first job and she’s only been working there 6 months. Well I commend the person who hired and trained her. We asked her for two boxes to go and I forgot to ask for a small container for the Mac n cheese, well no problem, because Mariah remembered, in fact she even brought an extra one for our ranch, as well as a bag and hand wipes. I wish more people took pride in their work like she did!

Quantity over quality , I'm convinced that Sunny's BBQ is not focused on putting out the best product possible .The food you'll get is edible but not seasoned well, and I guess they believe the BBQ sauce will cover that up.It's just a shame that a restaurant that's a BBQ destination is not a great destination for it.

Great food! Like most places they are short staffed, but the waitress, Daniella, was cheerful, friendly and very helpful despite being run of her feet! I would recommend it thoroughly!
