Lunch special at The Yearling Restaurant included fried catfish flaky but the hush puppies came out doughy inside. Old Florida vibe with creaky floors and locals chatting over iced tea though parking filled up quick with weekend visitors from Gainesville.

We are repeat customers who love the location, the Old Florida Fish Camp vibe, the food, the wait staff and the eclectic menu with local favorites hard to find anywhere else... but friends, you cannot charge $9 for a small piece of pie and expect diners to hurry back for more. Figuring 8 small pieces per pie, you are dishing up $72 pies. Yes, food prices have skyrocketed, yes everything has become more expensive, but the exorbitant cost of this plain 'ol pie wedge (not ala mode, not w/coffee) was unacceptable and put a damper on our otherwise pleasant anniversary meal. We won't be hurrying back for more.
Nice quiet place. However, be aware no internet service, both by any network providers (no signal) nor the restaurant is providing internet access.

Although we've lived in Florida for 40 years we've never stopped at The Yearling for a meal. Well, it was very nice. interesting place just down the road from Majorie Rawlings house. Many decorations appropriate for the times. Very good service and an impressive menu with unusual choices such as Gator, frogs legs prime rib meat of pork and others. for lunch I had the pork and my spouse had a highly recommended Berger. Both were very good.

Bathroom needed a little love. But that was the only that needed love. The food was excellent. Our waitress was excellent. Good place to eat. We will certainly be back. And so you know. We travel all over, so we eat all over. This was one of tops.

Only disappointment was that Grouper wasn't available, but the blackened Redfish was good.

Everything was great with the service and the staff. I ordered the grouper sandwich and it was fresh and tasty except maybe a little overcooked. My husband had the Rawlings burger which he loved. The onion rings were perfect! This is the place to get the best Amaretto Sour!

This is a gem in the midst of Florida back roads. Amber was great, the food was fabulous, and the rustic atmosphere was down home. We explored the entire restaurant while our food was being prepared. A huge library of books, nostalgia hung on the walls, some vinyl 45s and a mini museum of local wildlife. Will definitely return on one our road trips.
