I drive down from Jacksonville for our semi annual luncheon there. The atmosphere along with good food and friendly staff make it most enjoyable. Our group. We Marines of “ The Rusty Zipper Squad”, be returning in November to celebrate the Marine Corps birthday. ( PS: wish you would put fried yellow squash as a side on the menu.)

Excellent food and service. Venison, frog legs, gator tail, and other less exotic entrees served with traditional southern sides. Servers are helpful and fun! Rent a cabin and get the full experience.

Lunch here after visiting Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park in nearby Cross Creek. Had the fried catfish based on my server Katie’s opinion that it did not taste “muddy” like some farm raised catfish. It was excellent and the tartare sauce tasted homemade. Look for the biggest opossum I have ever seen in the wildlife display. So much memorabilia to see here along with a superb book collection. Don’t miss this opportunity.

It's pretty expensive for deep fried food, but I love the atmosphere of this place, tho it's lost most it's atmosphere after loosing Willy. ?Brought an elderly lady friend there for her last trip before she moves north to be near family.
We love this place. Unique food.Dietary restrictions: Grilled options and low fat availableParking: Sometimes gets busyKid-friendliness: Interesting place for kids.Wheelchair accessibility: Easy to get into

This little place is amazing the service was super. The pork chops was probably the best piece of meat I have ever eaten at a restaurant in my life. I do bbq myself and they grilled it to perfection. Must go 10 out of 10.

Disappointed in The Yearling.Food -Their coleslaw tasted like KFC.The croutons on my salad were down right nasty.I ordered fish, which was very good but it was not cooked as ordered.Gator appetizer was really good and the venison was also very good.Chocolate cake for dessert seemed to be a few days old.Very nice atmosphere in the restaurant, but the men's room smelled like piss.Yikes....

Food was very good. However, it's expensive, and took an hour and 15min before the appetizer was even brought to the table. Then food came 15min later. We were one of the first people seated when the restaurant opened and ordered right away. Then the server came back to the table 53min later to tell us they were out of one of the entrees we ordered, and then were also out of onion rings. It would be nice if they had brought cornbread muffins or biscuits during the wait.

An interesting, unselfconsciously nostalgic relic of 20th century Cracker Florida, but I got one single (!) hush puppy with my dinner. Can you imagine? And that one single hush puppy was burnt charcoal black. I prefer golden brown. I never heard of serving one single hush puppy. Ever. Hushpuppies are ALWAYS plural, coming in twos or threes. It would be like serving a single French fry and calling it French fries. The food quality is nothing special. After I finished I thought, I'll just go to Long John Silver next time, 'cause one visit here is sufficient. Sadly, this establishment borders on tourist trap. Expect food served without pride or passion, but decent service.
