Food was very good the rice was outstanding.
The service and food was great.
We ate here twice. I had gotten the Congo chicken with double cheese grits and it was delicious. My husband and daughter got the same and loved it too.
Soggy buns filled with pulled pork from a tub and served with beans from a can. Wings in the oven that lacked any kind of crispy skin, tossed in sauce from a jug that came on a truck. That about sums up my experience here. They have a sign in the dinning room that says something about "you cant have salt and pepper because our chefs are trained in New Orleans "Take the sign down, or go back and train again.Or let me, a chef NOT trained in New Orleans help you turn your food around. This place let me down and broke my heart.
Traveling for ball and wanted something unique… BBQ meets Indian and New Orleans is how we describe it. At first we thought we were a little skeptical and then was pleasantly surprised. This is the beach gang, where things are slower price and a little more expensive… it’s just how it rolls. But the service was friendly, the beer ( in a coffin) cold and food … delicious! Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free dishes available. We had the finicky 5 and 12 year old, the only fast food teens and the strict meat and potatoes dad. All were happy! Chicken and pork extremely tender. Sides were different …again with the Indian/New Orleans tastes… so good. Beers I will fuss were too pricy but…. If you want unique, funky, different… try it! Support your local island business. PS… don’t ask for any condiment… they don’t carry a one. The flavor is in the food.
Everything had alot of the same flavor. And they tell you to help yourself to a drink in the coffin when you arrive. Don't. They are 5.50 for a beer and it was TERRIBLY SKUNKED! Overall it wasn't horrible. But definitely much better places to eat. Maybe it's an acquired taste....
Love this place!!!
Bones is my “GO TO!” favorite restaurant. I love the ribs, but chicken kabobs are really good too. Now the rice, MMMMMmmmmmm…wonderful! Nope, the flavors they combine are unique to Bones. Not boring (yawn)! I can’t express enough how much I love visiting this restaurant. Plus, the staff? They are positive, fun and extremely helpful. And no, you don’t need anything extra…everything is ON TARGET!!! Colleen Bradenton, FL
We got takeout twice from this restaurant. Both time the food was excellent. The prices are on par with others. Our only complain is the kitchen was slammed with dine in and take out. We had to wait over an hour to get our food. But this is a testament to the popularity of of the place.
2nd vacation to Anna Maria Island, and was looking forward for my 2nd visit to Mr. Bones. This small, family restaurant is unique and a hidden gem. The ribs are meaty, well done and delicious. The Cajun style Jambalaya was better than some I've had at the French Quarter in New Orleans. It had awesome big gulf shrimps. And then my head exploded when they served me the Chicken Tikka W/rice Biryani. WAIT, WHAT?!!! a South Asia (Indian) dish in a little Anna Maria Island restaurant? Who are these people? The tikka sauce is not overpowering, it's just right. 1/2 a chicken. They serve it with a side of mango chutney and a side of homemade coriander chutney (reminiscent to a South American Chimichurri) and a cucumber raita. WHAT? SERIOUSLY?!!! I had to look twice to make sure I was inside a little BBQ joint. That was my favorite one. Such a fusion of food into one little place. And so well done. My GO TO location every time I visit the island!

Disappointing. We waited for almost 5 mins to be seated and nobody bothered to check. There ware 2 waiters walking by, many times, and comfortably ignoring the us. We walked out without eating there. Will never go back.
Mr Bones has always been amazing. Their ribs are to die for and the atmosphere and hospitality is worth your time. We have been going for years and will continue to go until they close (hopefully they don’t close anytime soon).
Well over an hour to get our food, service was terrible and not even one I’m sorry, strongly would not recommend unless you have 3 hours for dinner
This was nothing special. They call it BBQ but it is not. I pretty certain the spare ribs and pulled pork were done in an oven. NO SMOKE AT ALL!! It is just baked meat with sauce. The ribs had all kinds of pull and were tough. Very heavy on the paprika. The shredded, I mean pulled pork was fine for slow cooked pork from the oven. Just because you have your own BBQ sauce does not mean you are a BBQ restaurant. The cole slaw was odd because there was a very strong vanilla flavor. Just odd. As far as the sauce, the BBQ sauce is fine, nothing special and Mongolian sauce is very heavy on the sesame oil. They must not know a little goes a long way. I see why Northerners visiting Anna Maria Island may think this good BBQ, ANY southerner knows it is not BBQ at all. Steer clear, get BBQ elsewhere!
Delicious ribs and Indian dishes... New Orleans meets India! Who could ask for more??? We always order more than we can eat so that we have leftovers to take home. A fantastic locally owned business with a fun quirky atmosphere. You gotta check it out!
