Staff was super nice.Restaurant is nicely decored and clean. The house salsa had fantastic taste and the slightest kick which was delicious. The mexican waters were okay, definitely not the best I've had.the choriqueso was okay -they use melted stringy cheese so once it cools it's thick and hard to enjoy.the chorizo sandwich wasn't enjoyed by the person who ordered it.the tacos were okay, very standard, nothing special or remarkable to warrant a return.
It was good for being a taco spot .Meat was tasty .The asada had flavor and juicy .The carnita tasted good had that pork marinate which complimented the tortilla very well. Chip and salsa that is giving complimentary are good and the marinate is good as well need a lil kick to it cause it’s sweet for my buds ijs .The tortilla was a good brand . Not sure if it was homemade I doubt it .The queso fondo was good but I could had been better .The green sauce was mediocre but that red one , watch out now! My taste buds were dancing due to its fiery flavor which I’m not complaining but don’t add to much .The orchata is served very good go for the liter it’s worth the monies ..To sum it up give it a try you will leave a happy person full of good compliments to talk about . .
I’m late posting this review, and I apologize. We took the Harley for a ride from Fort Myers to Homestead with the intentions of eating at Fonda Familiar. We arrived at the restaurant, ready to eat. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered, and enjoyed the chips and salsa while waiting. We shared the combination fajitas and it was delicious !After finishing the main course, the owners, mother and son team, came out to join us, let us try complimentary desserts, also delicious, and great conversation. What a hidden gem of a restaurant, with good food, friendly staff and ownership. We like to try different restaurants and prefer to spend our money at the independent places rather than the big chain restaurants.Give FONDA FAMILIAR a try, I’m certain that you will be a frequent patron.
The best meal we had while staying in south Florida. The tacos and arrachera were fantastic and so was the service. A perfect stop after a day in the Everglades.
Soo good 1st time the mahimahi tacos and shrimp tacos so yumm, get the queso fundido with chorizo and use the fork its easier to get the cheese, the steak tacos had good flavor even took home some churros its best to eat freshly done but still so good. We'll be back
I found this cute hidden Mexican Gem a couple of months ago and have been a regular ever since. I’ve tried a wide assortment of items from the menu and absolutely everything has been delicious! Everything is fresh and tastefully made. Their guacamole is smooth and refreshing. Today I decided to try their seafood tacos, one grilled mahi-mahi, one grilled shrimp and one grilled salmon! Can you say Spectacular… it was a delicious explosion of flavors in your mouth! The staff are very friendly and accommodating and always go the extra mile to make sure your satisfied and happy with your selections. So if your in the mood for delicious authentic Mexican food this is the place to visit, I can promise you won’t be disappointed!!!
I read the previous reviews and was in full agreement!!My family found this quaint authentic restaurant and was very impressed with not only the food but the staff.Everything was fresh ,hot and delicious and exceeded our expectations.Don’t let the demur facade fool you!
The food is DELICIOUS. I had the fish tacos, my husband the beef soup. Fresh and authentic. Restaurant is very clean. Fast service. Very friendly and helpful.
We wanted to try someplace new, near by, not a chain restaurant, a place with good reviews. The parking situation was not good - it's in a small strip mall with a full parking lot.We came for dinner on a Friday night. The place was empty. There was music in the background but not too loud- thank goodness since we like to be able to hear each other when we talk. There was a juke box in the corner. We were greeted by the waitress. She gave us menus, took our drink order and promptly brought usNachos (would taste better if they were warm) with salsa. We ordered a small guacamole (wasn't enough) and were brought more chips. The guac was VERY GOOD. tasted fresh. Wish we ordered the large size. Sorry, but we forgot to take a picture of the guacamole. It didn't last long. We ordered aQuesidilla with carne asada, Enchiladas, Fajitas, 2 tacos, and churros (cinnamon sticks) for dessert. First time we ever had those and they were tasty. They came with chocolate sauce & dulce de leche to dip in. Yummy. When the food came, it was fresh and hot; we were very happy to get hot food. We all liked our meals. The Fajitas came with 3 warm soft shelled tacos & a tiny guacamole. The quesidilla had a lithe cup of sour cream. The soda was Mexican bottled Coke with real sugar - not high fructose corn syrup! The service was great, Valentina was friendly & polite. She guided us on the menu and we were happy with our selections. The empty dishes were taken away promptly. The place looks clean, but the seat next to me was dirty. Overall, we enjoyed our meals and would go back again. We spent about $25/person. If half stars were possible, I'd give this place 4 1/2 stars.
I decided to try some Mexican food and came across this delicious hidden spot! The place was perfect for a relaxing Saturday afternoon. I had chips & salsa with a refreshing cold bottled Coca Cola. Decided to try the fajitas and they were seasoned perfectly and I enjoyed the fresh avocado on the salad as well. For dessert I had freshly made churros with caramel and chocolate dipping sauce. Everything was flavorful and delicious! The staff is friendly and helpful too.

So we were looking for tacos but instead of going to our favorite place I said let's do something different. I googled Mexican food and this place with 4.9 stars came up. It is worth it the guac was nice and freshelicious. The queso fundido came and wow that was a very nice queso.....then the tacos de asada....what can I say the green sauce was my favorite and the tacos were meaty and yummy....great flavor. The presentation is on point....I am in a eat different diet but had 1 bite of the churros and is was crunchy goodnes. In a nut shell the place is a must when looking for good Mexican food in Homestead where there is plenty of Mexican restaurants.
A hidden GEM, great food and even better service! They have nice art inside the restaurant to look at while enjoying fresh food and tasty food. Altogether high end people are operating this restaurant there is no doubt.
Very homey atmosphere! The food is delicious! I had a great conversation with Rodrigo and his mother. We had a very deep intricate conversation about society and I can tell he is a very open minded and loving guy. Believe me when I say that love transfers to their food! Highly recommend for everyone!
Love Fonda Familiar! Several trips have been made from the north Miami area to Homestead for Fonda Familiar's food! The food is DELICIOUS! The staff and their service is kind and attentive! Feel very welcomed each and every time. I'll keep driving almost an hour gladly! Don't second guess it! Come in and enjoy some delicious food!
This place is Awesome! The staff is very nice and welcoming. The owners came to our table to say hi and ask how our dining experience was. This is a family owned restaurant that has great flavor and quality food. We definitely will be back any chance we get.
