The place was slow and the grandma who was running the front ran out to the store or something. The guy from the kitchen came out while she was gone and complained about her, complained about the people in the area, and that he thought eat-in establishments should be abolished (yes, as I'm sitting in his establishment). He yammered on and I finally had to ask if I might be able to get my salad. He got it, and then yammered while I ate it (the salad was just iceburg lettuce and pale tomatoes). When my meal came, the pork had good flavor, but it was very tough and chewy. The sweet potato fries were ok, but not outstanding.

We noticed this place a week ago and wrote a long list of goodies but they were closed . Been looking forward to tasting all these dishes. This Saturday Dec. 15, 2021 my wife was at the dentist probably 1000 feet from this restaurant and she called if I wanted anything for dinner while she was on the road. I said Oh great, go to Raices., your right there. She got there and called me. I answered, what ? Are they closed today ? She said no. A woman next door told her they were closed down by The Health Department. Whatever the reason, she said they were reopening on Dec. 18th, 2021. What do ya think? Should we try again ? I think in the business situation we're in after Covid shutting down the entire country's economy for a year, that a merchant would not allow anything like this to occur. As for the " STAR" review, since I'm required to give one, at this time I can only give one star. BUT lets hear it for our Health Department's men and women.

If you are looking for the best Puerto Rican in the area look no further than Raices Merged Latin Kitchen if that it is better than some of the top restaurants in Tampa. I promise you won't be disappointed everything is just delicious and feel like I am back at my grandma's house eating again.

Best authentic pressed Cuban Sandwich around! Big enough for 2 days lunch.

Honestly the portions are small, and the food is super greasy. I have had better.

Best Puerto Rican cuisine in the area. Had the empanadas which were the best I've had, the picadillo (beef) mix is fantastic. The stuffed plantains were more like topped plantains but the flavor was spot on. The tripletta sandwich was very good with nice balanced flavor and a good meat to bread ratio, served with plantain chips hot from the fryer!

I've past by a few times but decided to give it a try I had the Tripleta sandwhich had never had one before and it was delicious. The place is very clean, it's really cute inside. The owners mom was there I chatted with her a bit and enjoyed the conversation a lot .Great place so glad to have some good Spanish food near by. Will definitely be back.

Best empanadas I've ever had! Matter of fact I'm reviewing this a little late and I'd die for one at this very moment!! All staff are very kind and there are so many options to choose from on the menu that I've been there 3x in the past month to try more things! But definitely try the chicken empanadas. They are ? as the rest of their food is.

My wife had ordered a Cuban on a previous visit and said it “was pretty good”. Today we were in the mood for a good Spanish meal but didn’t want to cook it our selves. We placed an order for some carnitas and white rice with red beans. When I picked it up, I knew it wasn’t going to be traditional Spanish food. We’re Puerto Rican, and good Spanish food usually has a distinct smell of flavor. This did not. Don’t get me wrong, the meal was edible. I had a choice of ordering food from here or a meal from “La Lechonera” in Spring Hill. Raices was closer so I took a chance on the more local place. I can honestly say, that in the future, when I am in the mood for spanish food, I will take the ride to Spring Hill and get a meal from “La Lechonera”. If i only want a Cuban sandwich I will try it from “Raices” since it is more local and my wife said it was pretty good. This is only my opinion, so try both places for yourself and choose the one the makes you happy,
