I was a restaurant critic in a large city in the Northeast. I’ve lived in this area for four years, and am extremely disappointed with the new owners. Ron put his heart and soul into his food, and it showed. Good portions, reasonable prices, happy atmosphere. The new owners have cut back everything, prices are higher than warranted for food served. Attitudes seem to permeate the business. I’m not a snowbird, I am here all year. There many restaurants to go to in this area, although this is not one I will be going back to. So extremely disappointed. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

So many wonderful memories here with my lil momma!The new owner has done absolutely wonderful things with this place!! The menu is basically the same but the inside is gorgeous and modern now. If you've not been in a while, I highly recommend that you stop in!

This place used to have great food but it has went really downhill since COVID. I’m sorry to say we will not be getting food here again. It was that bad.... 20 dollars for 2 pulled pork sandwiches. The buns were soggy wet. I had to go to the store just to get buns because it was literally sopping wet falling apart bread. And no flavor at all. Definitely not what it used to be. :(

This was an unplanned stop for two hungry travelers. Happy to have stumbled upon this place. A friendly, relaxed hostess greeted us at the door & advised we could sit where we wanted. Plenty of room & very clean. Our waitress was pleasant & knowledgable. Gave me great advice for someone not super familiar with southern food. I ordered the grilled fish & it was phenomenal! Served in a cast iron skillet & smokin' hot. The spinach Maria was a tasty side. My companion went for the meat. The ribs were flavorful & very meaty. He also got brisket that he enjoyed but I was too full to try. I'm not too far away in Tampa & will certainly be back if I'm in the area. Wish I got a pic of that fish!!

On Sept. 19, we went to Ron's which has a relatively new owner, Harvey who was there working. Since Covid the entire place has been remodeled and updated. It looks really good. The food continues to be excellent and has ample servings. The Spinach Maria is a must for a side. We had fried and grilled shrimp.( I Know it is a bbq place.) Others ordered ribs and brisket. The four of us decided that it is one of the best meals we have had in a long time. The brisket was so tender you could cut with a fork. They have fried flounder and catfish on the BBQ menu too. Most of the old staff is still working there with a few new ones.
Food tastes very good but every time I order food to go/delivery, something isn't right with my order. Tonight I didn't get barbecue sauce with my pulled pork sandwich. Last week they didn't send the right meal with my doordash deliverer. Kind of a bummer because I do like the food :(

Wow, don't know if i can rave enough. I seldom give 5 stars, but they deserve it. Awesome service, most delicious food. Brisket was melt in your mouth, freshest crispy salad, giant baked potatoes. Only problem was i couldn't finish my food lol.

Ate inside twice. Fried flounder was good. Ordered take out tonight. Lady on phone wasn't friendly and the flounder was half the regular portion, but the whole price. Spinach Maria side which is cream based was room temp and inedible. Flounder and fries soggy. Won't be back.

The portions and quality of customer service, specifically of the management (Tom) has deteriorated since Ron left…sadly. We have been regulars at Ron’s BBQ on SR52 in Hudson since we moved here in 2012. During this virus, we have regularly supported all the local restaurants we enjoy trying to help them stay open. We REALLY prefer not to do take-out but have been doing so anyway because we feel it is important.Last evening, by son ordered a burger and my husband ordered the flounder special with fries - a $13.99 meal. My husband regularly orders the flounder special when we dine in and he has enjoyed consistent quality and portions, well worth the $13.99. When I arrived home, my husband’s meal had a baked potato instead of fries, and a half portion of flounder, more like a Long John Silver’s portion, definitely not worth the $13.99 price. I immediately called and asked to speak to the manager, and Tom got on the line. I told him the problem, that we got a potato instead of fries and the flounder portion was half the usual portion. I received no apologies from Tom, and a very sharp attitude. He told me to bring it back if I wanted a refund. When I told him he’d be getting an appropriate review, he told me I was threatening him. I brought it back. Tom didn’t check the bag, didn’t even look at me directly, but just started showing the waitress how to process a refund. With the refund completed, still no apologies from Tom for all my trouble. Apparently, he had processed a full refund for both meals that I had purchased instead of just the flounder meal. I went out the door to my car and he came running out after me yelling that I had only brought back one meal…so I turned around and went back inside to again pay for the burger. He saw me standing there waiting while the waitress took an order for another customer for 4- 5 minutes. When she finished with this customer, she turned to him and said that she needed to charge me for the burger again. Tom told her to “just forget it, go ahead and give it to her…” I again reminded him he’d be getting an appropriate review and I left. Too bad, Ron’s used to be one of our favorites, but with the new management, his lack of proper customer oriented attitude and decreased portions, we will no longer be going to Ron’s BBQ on SR52 in Hudson.************************************Your response might be believable if it were your only terrible review.
