Cuban Island Restaurant

This is a small but dim lighted bar and restaurant giving off a tropical vibe. I had the appetizer sampler - chicken and a beef empanada, ham croquettes, yuca fries, ropa vieja and Piccadillo with a garlic sauce on the side. We also ordered a coconut mojito and a bistec empanisada. For dessert we took a guava cheesecake and a vanilla flan to go. They also bought Cuban bread to the table with an onion sauce that tasted like onions on a NY hot dog. food was hands down perfect. Everything was fried perfectly and seasoned well. The garlic sauce was watery and I’m used to a thicker mojo sauce but it was flavorful. My mojito had coconut shavings and the right amount of alcohol. Will have to say this is the best Cuban food that I’ve tasted and the food was plated delicately. The only thing I noticed was rust surrounding the ac vent above us. I tried not to look up. Other than that great food and good music just loud enough to listen to but not so loud where you can’t hear yourself. #tryit

What the actual hell did I just experience. This was hands down some of the best food I’ve eaten in Florida. Stop thinking, go here, shut up.

We ate here twice on our Florida trip (arrival/departure) and both times it was really excellent. By far the best meal of the trip and definitely in the top 5% of my experiences in the USA. We had Cubanos the first time. Today shrimp ceviche and the catch of the day (red snapper). This was the best fish preparation I've had in a long time. Perfectly grilled and a huge piece of fish.

Food is tasty and service is nice EXCEPT that without warning they charge $3 for a seltzer water from the fountain; a RIPOFF! Other restaurants provide that water for free. So we won't be doing that again.

Went out on a ride from St. Cloud and discovered this awesome restaurant ? ordered the Pan con bistec and fries. Ufffff it was delicious!! The staff was pleasant and eager to speak in Spanish. Just felt good being there. Told all my friends can't wait to go back

Take out Pernil Sandwich today. Well, the bread on one side completely soggy and the pernil was prepared with way too much lemon/lime. Not a good experience at all. They used to have the best Pernil sandwiches. Really don't know what happened.

First visit, atmosphere was pleasant. Cuban sandwiches, Empanadas and beans and rice were delicious. Then we had desert. Yummy.
Second visit, the food was just as good as the first.

The food was absolutely delicious here! I’m from Miami and this Cuban food was very authentic. I had the vaca frita and my husband had the stuffed bell pepper with ropa vieja. We both loved our meals! Also, our server was super kind and bubbly. Service was great.
