Sumo Japanese Restaurant

I am a regular traveler to Japan. Sumo is the closest I have found to the authentic Japanese food. Also, probably the best deal in terms of quality, quantity and price.

Wife is nursing and our daughter has a severe dairy allergy. We called to inquire if one of the sauces had any dairy products in it. My wife explained her allergy and asked three times in three different ways, but the lady who answered the phone couldn’t answer and didn’t make an attempt. So, we ordered food anyway, and my wife made a note not to put the sauce on the roll. The lady then called us, confused. My wife explained that since she couldn’t tell us if there was any dairy in it just to make the role without any sauce.
As dairy is a common allergen and any restaurant ought to be able to help customers with common allergies, I give one star.
Food is good.
Atmosphere was my home (carry-out), so it was fantastic.

They don’t start orders till you get there and then ignore you when you ask how long or pretend they don’t understand you so rude and unprofessional at this place WAITED OVER 30 minutes for a pick up order repeat PICKUP should’ve already been ready wasted a hour waiting on food that should’ve been ready just to drive home 30 minutes ruined my day with this one

Went at 5pm, place was empty and took a min to be recognized. Tea was a cup only no pot, soup was not tasty and tried 2 types it was a water issue. Tempura was very greasy. Cowboy sushi roll was alright but overall a very unpleasant experience. Food was not quality

Worst dinner I have ever had at any Japanese restaurants! 17 of us were there for my aunts 70th birthday it was reserved with plenty of time we dropped off a cake early that day by myself and my son had some wine and some sake and me and my mother shared a plate of hibachi my son had hibachi chicken my bill alone was $114 for absolutely nothing there wasn’t enough food by the time he made it around the table in the grill there were four adults and a teenager and all of us got half a scoop of rice half a scoop of vegetables and couldn’t choose steak could’ve bounced it off the wall so my family probablyWas 17 of us probably spent close to $500 the service was terrible we would for Sushi and They forgot we were the only ones in there which I found very weird the last time we were there was about five years ago for another birthday and it was fabulous I paid $50 for what would’ve been one plate of food at any of the other hibachi Japanese restaurants in Brevard I’m sure you’ve all been to the other two well named restaurants and left with food we we didn’t even have food to take. Even if the quality of food was horrible it was just greasy rice it was no Japanese flavor or anything this was absolutely the worst meal I’ve had at a restaurant in my entire life they didn’t write down orders I just thought they were going to remember him very disappointing sure wish I could get my money back I will tell you we were the only ones there eating there were lots of DoorDash orders for sushi coming and going everyone who ordered a little bit of sushi loved it hibachi forget it don’t spend your money there. We all work very hard for her money I promise you do not waste your money at Sumo’s!

Kudos to the sushi chef here--the sushi really is the best in town. Their Godzilla roll is my favorite! I've eaten here dozens of times but am beginning to realize why this place is always empty... The service here sucks! On my most recent visit I brought a date here, ordered two entrees, an appetizer, and two specialty rolls. One entree was brought out without rice. I had to ask for every drink refill. We caught dirty looks from the waitress all night long. It made no sense. When I asked for the bill, she rolled her eyes and disappeared for 20 minutes. We were the only table during regular dinner hours and couldn't get help from either waitress. Guess they don't need any business ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Made reservations and wanted hibachi, got there they acted like we didn't have reservation even though I had the confirmation and wouldn't offer hibachi unless we were a large group

We had a great experience. We had hibachi chicken and shrimp. Soup, salad, chicken, shrimp, veggies, rice and noodles were all great. Love the music and peaceful atmosphere. Everything came out fast and fresh.
