This place has the most yummy food. I got a Mediterranean salad the first time I came, and it was so delicious. Everyone else got sandwiches, and the next time we came we just got desserts which were some of the best we’ve ever had. It’s a beautiful building with lovely details everywhere, it feels like a mix between a special occasion and a family sandwich place, and an elite dessert cafe.

45 min to get one sandwich and two kids meal. We should have gotten publix subs. These sandwiches are just plain bread and deli meat, they don’t even warm them up. Nothing special. Extremely plain and tasteless.

Not really sure what the place is - outside of a bar that serves food.
We walked in and the man at the front said go sit and someone will get you. (No 'hi' or any welcoming words)

We were there to try the beer cheese soup.
It was not beer cheese soup- I'm from Wisconsin and know what beer cheese soup is - the Germans brought it to Wisconsin and that's where it became what it is today.

This place served the soup in a 'paper' or cardboard disposable bowl (cheap move). It was basically chicken/beef broth over shredded cheese almost as if it wasn't finished. Not a lot of thought put into it. It had rubbery pieces of bacon in it and we could see the shreds of cheese in the soup.

Traditional beer cheese soup does not have bacon in it, we put bacon crumbles on top to avoid that chewy, rubbery feel. The soup should be creamy with a smooth texture, hint of beer - and not smoke flavored.

The pretzels were not homemade - I have purchased the same brand at local stores from the freezer section.
The pretzels were a bit burned on the bottom.

Neither of us finished and went elsewhere to eat (we did pay for it but wasted our money).

We did have a nice waiter. I asked about the 'classic' Rueben on the menu -he told us it's not even made on rye - (I said - then it's not a Rueben!) He agreed but did tell us that it can be made on rye for an up charge. OMG

The waiter told us that they make us pay upfront - on the way out - so they can try to sell us on bakery. We just weren't interested.

This is a bar. It's not a German restaurant- I'm not sure what you would classify the food as. Maybe it's popular because people drink and when they eat their taste is off??

They have a polish sausage sandwich with corned beef - sounds so weird.

We have frequented many German, Polish, Irish and European restaurants and this is not on our list to return- it's almost missing a food identity.
Maybe if they narrowed down their menu and picked like a few sandwiches it would be OK but they'd have to get their sandwiches right. And fix the beer cheese soup, then serve it in a real bowl...so maybe they could try to bring in new customers.

I get they've been around 40 years but I've been going to Jacksonville for 50 and have never heard of them or had anyone tell me about them.

Great sandwich options and plenty of good deals on happy hour. I had the Knockwurst and Pastrami sandwich. Very hearty and the wurst was savory.

Worst experience ever @ Beach Blvd location.

Waited 15min and received no service. Waitress seated, gave drinks, took orders and helped a table right next to us and offered us no service. Very disappointing👎

Love European Street I always get the Parisian and a cup of the beer cheese soup which ties with the old Henderson's restaurant as best beer cheese soup anywhere

Everything has changed in our world...including European St. The sandwiches used to be packed with the best meats stacked high loaded with toppings. Its been 4 years since I have been there. My sandwich had 3 slices of meat, on 3 slices of bread, a shred of lettuce and 1 whole slice of tomato for the whole sandwich. Service was ok. I miss the good ol days. I will continue to stay home and make my own boars head pastrami on publix bread!! A sad good bye to a Jacksonville favorite.

Serving a wide variety of lunch dishes with some emphasis on German dishes ranging from sausages/wurst, Reubens, but also American club sandwiches, vegetarian options, salads, pita offerings, wraps, heros. Lots to choose from and most dishes are ~$13 or less.

Seat yourself at most locations, then a server will bring menus and serve the table. Payment can be done through a QR code at the table or normally customers take the check to the register and maybe get a little something sweet from the display case or other candy treats.

I really like this place! I’ve now been to two of the Jacksonville locations and haven’t been the slightest bit disappointed. It’s truly the best of the best and I’ve only had two of their menu offerings. I look forward to trying more of them in the time to come!

We stumbled upon this eclectic little spot that’s part restaurant, part bar, and part gift store—and honestly, it’s such a fun and charming find! The atmosphere is super cute and cozy, perfect for hanging out with friends or just enjoying a laid-back meal.

I had one of their salads and it was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully put together. The menu has a lot of tempting options, and the desserts looked heavenly. We didn’t get a chance to try them this time, but we’re already planning our next visit just for that!

Between the tasty food, the creative decor, and the unique gift shop section, this place has such a special vibe. Highly recommend checking it out!

A great casual spot that is nice to linger. We never feel rushed. If you like beer cheese soup, get it! My husband is a fan of the German potato salad. And for the beer drinkers, great happy hour deals.
