Amazing from start to finish.
Sat atvthe bar and had amazing bar service from, ian and vianna. Everything was stellar. The sugar and spice cocktail was SMASHING. Looking forward to trying their sugar and spice sorbet in the near future

My friends and I made a reservation for lunch to celebrate my 35th birthday before going to the beach. We arrived for our reservation dressed in beach attire of course, but very classy with long, conservative cover ups. We were immediately turned away by the hostess because she said that I needed a top that would close. We retreated to our car where we had extra clothes for after the beach. I put on a shirt as requested and we returned to the restaurant, excited that we would be able to keep our reservation and enjoy lunch on the rooftop. We had done EXACTLY what they asked of us. As the hostess was gathering the menus to seat us a man approached the hostess stand. We have no clue who this man was, as he apparently did not see us worthy of an introduction or any type of explanation for that matter. He swiftly told us that they would not be able to uphold our reservation and we in fact had to leave because one of my friend’s cover up tops was “shear.” This was extremely disappointing as we have eaten there multiple times before wearing similar attire. This is even more unfortunate because we were the only people of color in the restaurant at the time. I would hate to think that this impacted the way that we were treated, but should definitely be noted. The nameless gentleman that eventually told us to leave kept referencing a sign posted on the door as if we couldn’t read. It was very condescending and not appreciated by a group of highly educated African American women. I have never taken the time to leave a negative review and typically leave well enough alone but I could not let this go. We were extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism and the absence of basic human decencies that we were not afforded. It seems oxymoronic to have a restaurant AT THE BEACH and not allow patrons to wear beach attire, within limits of course. It really seems as though they simply did not want us there. They told us the problem, we fixed it. Then they came up with a completely different problem. Between us all we have eaten at almost all of the Oku restaurants across the country, but because of this experience we will no longer patronize this franchise. Please do better.

Some places that get a lot of hype might be duds but O-Ku is definitely worth ALL THE HYPE. My partner and I were celebrating our anniversary and I’ve had tons of friends recommend this place.

Wow I can say that everything we tried was delicious and unique, which is hard to come by. For apps we ordered the rock shrimp, crispy rice and pork belly baos. The star was definitely the rock shrimp but I’ve had other pork baos and these were by far the best! For entree I had the Oceanside which had the most unique smoked flavor and my partner had the so’s maki. We had the I’ve brownie for dessert, the coconut ice cream on top was amazing! If I had to say one bad thing is that the bartender did not make my drink spicy enough!

The atmosphere is wonderful, the place was pretty packed but it wasn’t like some places where you feel like packed sardines. There are 2 floors and originally I wanted to sit upstairs but I’d made the original m reservation for downstairs and the wait would have been 30 minutes, so we opted for downstairs and were sat by one of the huge windows which was honestly better, AC and people watching.

Our waiter was amazing, I feel so bad I don’t remember his name but he was so attentive, helpful and just overall a great guy. Honestly cannot recommend this place enough!

Been here a few times now but have never been so motivated to give a review. My last visit yesterday was the best experience I’ve had yet (others were great as well). Marvin was our server and he was awesome, great recommendations and really took our date night to the next level. Will definitely be back sooner than later after this visit! Not to mention - the food is always phenomenal, drinks are top tier.

Sat up on the porch for our anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint! Marvin was our server and couldn’t have been better! He was attentive and kind- he even had the staff sign a card for us! 🤩
Food was delish- definitely try the chicken bao and the fire cracker roll!
If we lived here, we would def go back!

The food is excellent, however the overall ambiance ruined it for me. The music, lighting and overall look of the restaurant caters to one segment of the population....Millennial and Gen Z females. This is a pricey restaurant, nestled within a family oriented beach town. Playing music like Billie Eliish is a complete mismatch within a restaurant that serves authentic Japanese food. IMO, the business model will affect the profitability of this restaurant.

Very delicious meal as always but very pricey but we knew this going into it. Service was excellent the only thing I'd change was it was so incredibly loud I could barely talk to my husband.

Everything was amazing! The food, the service. Just loved it! High recommendations if in Jacksonville. During my 3 years of travelling to North US a lot, this was the best restaurant experience so far! It's not cheap but worth all the money.

Deborah

The food was excellent! Our waiter was very very good. We asked many questions about the menu, as many terms were new to us and he very patiently answered. Because of his experience and patience, we tried many things we wouldn't have and totally enjoyed our dining experience!! We will definitely return.

Food is incredible. Be very careful if you have an allergy or intolerance though, they served us a dish that we notified them of the allergy and they said it could be modified to accommodate and then brought us the non modified dish. We ate one bite of it before they came and grabbed it off the table and stated their error, we were so upset. They made it right in the end but had this been a severe allergy (ours is not, it's mild) this could have had dire consequences. They were very apologetic and the manager did a great job with service recovery but it did dampen our special night out that we were celebrating.

My husband and I are visiting Jacksonville, O-Ku delivered good quality nigiris, tasty and fresh. The rolls were delicious as well. Definitely recommend this restaurant for quality sushi.
