I'd heard good things about the Sunday brunch. I was really excited when I finally made it. The buffet (brunch) consisted of: watery scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, hash browns, gravy, biscuits, turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and donuts. Not a great selection. No fresh fruit. The food was a disappointment.

this is in response to brian d's review of the homestead restaurant: you obviously caught the homestead restaurant on a bad day. i've frequented that restaurant since the 70s, and it's got some of the best food in all of duval county. i will say one thing though, if you're going to the homestead, they are known for their absolutely delicious southern fried chicken and their family style meals. they excel in these. you cannot go wrong when you order that. it's some of the best...read full review

Okay, history time! The original homestead restaurant was established in 1947, where it was local powerhouse for over 50 years. However, despite its popularity, the owner(s) supposedly had some issues, and Homestead had to close in 2001. Now, in 2018, it's somehow revived with new owners and a new location, but a lot of the same staff. I just moved here, so I only know that because the bartender told me.
