Nestled in the slight outskirts of Jay, Florida is the establishment of Kooter Brown’s. This place is a sports bar type establishment with not much of an eye catching outside design but, that shouldn’t distract you from coming inside for a pleasant experience.Once you walk in, the inside is quite dated. The aesthetics of the place hasn’t been changed in at least a decade, maybe two but, it still serves its purpose with a generic sports bar type restaurant. Sitting down, our table was clean but, the seat that we sat down at was held together by many strips of black duct tape that has had the unfortunate job of support many peoples bottoms over time. The young server was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and regular and adult drink selections. She also talked to my children like they were her best friends which was delightful to watch, and we were all able to joke around and carry on a friendly conversation like we’ve known each other for a lifetime.I ordered a delicious draft beer, and the temperature was just right. The mug was a noticeable clean glass by the way the heads stuck to the sides of the glass after a swallow. This is something not always found in some establishments so, that’s always a plus. The only downside I’ll talk about with this is that the mugs are smaller than I have experienced before but, that is not a deal breaker, and the price isn’t bad, either. My family ordered a basket of onion rings for an appetizer. The basket arrived visibly greasy and in turn was true greasy. Most of the onion rings were stuck together and the side of ranch came in a Ken’s peel back top cup. This author would have preferred the side of ranch to come in a general clear, pop the top off cup like most establishments carry but, this is also not a deal breaker. It just makes this author to think a little less professional of the establishment. Although, the accompanying sauce did come in the clear type cup and it was a delicious, seemingly homemade, horseradish ranch type sauce. Both sauces were savory and will work just fine for the appetizer. For my main course, I had the amazing nuked sauced wings. I ordered them extra crispy, and it was cooked perfectly to order. The smell hit me right in the nose as the waitress brought the basket out and it was set in a beautiful presentation with jalapenos and the ranch cup inside the basket. To be honest, I get pleasure out of the burn from spicy wings, and these were not the hottest I’ve ever had but, they did not disappoint. This course took me on a journey that I loved to experience and will get again. My wings also came with a side of perfectly golden fries that tasted like it was seasoned with the perfect amount of season salt. This authors preference is still a home-made ranch or ranch in its own plastic cup vice Ken’s ranch cup but, it was flavorful, just the same. For the restroom, upon walking in, it smelled good so, that’s always a plus and it looked mostly clean. There were some things I was easily able to notice that should be fixed and distracted me from giving a better review. Some of those things were: There were some medium size nicks in the wall, the paneling was coming off in some parts, there was a large hole near the door, the vent about the toilet needs serious cleaning from thick dust and there is a knifed in graffiti that needs painting over but, by far, not the worst bathroom I’ve ever been in. Perhaps for some of this review, I could have been a little nit-picky but, I feel I wouldn’t be giving my honest review, if I didn’t talk about. All in all, this establishment needs updated, brighter colors, updated dining room equipment and décor inside and out but, don’t let that distract you from the great food and drinks this small treasure delivers. There is always work to be done in any business but, the most important thing I can tell you is, my family and I will most definitely be back and can’t wait to visit again.

Wings were dry and not enough sauce. Overall, restaurant had an unpleasant odor. Servers were friendly and professional. I would not order wings again.

This place is a rare find in a small town. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. The owner waited on us herself.
