We went to Port Barna for the first time Saturday for dinner. Our waiter, Samuel, was very attentive (not too attentive) and helpful explaining menu items. We ordered Old Fashioneds which were a tad skimpy, but good. My husband ordered the Greek Lamb which he said was tender and tasty. I had the paella which was chock full of mussels, clams, shrimp, mushrooms and sausage. I brought 3/4 of it home as it was a very generous serving. We will definitely add Port Barna to our regular favorite restaurants.
Our experience was truly not a good one. We arrived for a late lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday. We arrived shortly after 2pm. The restaurant was rather empty at the time. We were immediately greeted and seated, and within minutes, the server asked us for our drinks, and the appetizer. Shortly after, we put in our order. About 5 minutes later, the server came back and informed me that the Fabada Asturianas soup was not made yet. I was disappointed, but ordered an additional appetizer. The Serrano and Manchego wood was good, however, the Spanish wood was lack luster, and at the price that it was, one would expect better quality chorizo and Iberian salami as advertised. My wife ordered the gambas al ajillo, and it was buried in a mountain of onions and peppers, which although were flavorful, concealed what was a very anemic amount of shrimp that looked and tasted undercooked. the steak Frite was good but undercooked to what i had requested. The worst part of our experience was how we received our food. Different portions of our food came out in a very inconsistent manner. I received portions of my food separately, my wife's came almost 5 mins after I received my food. My daughter, who ordered the barna cordon Bleu got her food almost 30 minutes after we received our food. Her plate was sitting for almost 5 mins unattended before the server brought the food to our table. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the service to our server. Although he apologized for the issues and offered us a 10% discount on the food,it unfortunately left us with an undesirable experience. As a person who's parents were born and raised in Spain, I expected a better experience than this. There is no perfection in this world, but if we are going to charge people a certain amount of money, one should expect for both the food and service to be better than it was. It was very obvious that the kitchen staff was not communicating at all with the server. Additionally, the server was asked twice to bring another diet coke, but failed to do so. Being in a high traffic location, I would expect that the service would be better than this. Unfortunately, I doubt that we will return.

2nd time we’ve visited this restaurant for their Mediterranean paella. We were not disappointed. Samuel was the only one waiting on everyone for Monday lunch and he did a great job!!!

Very disappointed with the food. Everything lacked flavor and tasted like it had been sitting too long. Portions were small for the price, and the presentation didn’t match what’s advertised. Service was fine, but the meal itself was not worth it.

We were shopping in the mall and for ease we decided to give this restaurant a try. I ordered the FABADA ASTURIANA which is a white bean, chorizo, and pork belly stew. It came with toasted bread. My husband ordered the Greek Salad. We were very happy with our choices. Both dishes had great flavors. My husband gave me the avocados off his greek salad and they were best avacados I have eaten in a while. They should add those as a tapas on the menu. (Avacado, feta, salt, pepper, and Greek olive oil and vinager). The star of the show however was the vanilla Creme Brule. The owner’s mother actually makes them herself. She nailed it! I would go there just for that dish alone. The only improvement I could recommend is to be sure the soup comes out nice and hot, mine had cooled a little waiting to come out. The toasted bread should be a homemade artisan bread or sourdough and a little less toasted to soak up that delicious stew. I would recommend you try this restaurant.
