’ve been a fan of the space and the idea behind Island Root, but lately the experience has been tarnished by one particular employee who seems unwilling or unable to handle basic customer communication. Instead of respectfully addressing a customer who may be unaware they’re stepping outside the rules, they choose to gossip to other patrons and let them deliver the message. That’s unprofessional and creates an awkward, uncomfortable environment.
Great place to go and relax before and after your busy day! I love Abacoa location and all the employees! Thanks John

I am a pretty regular customer and I decided to bring my friends in to plays some pool. We played a game and I was about to buy a drink because the line takes a long time to die down here. But before I could buy a drink the tender demand we all had to have a 7 dollar bar tab in order to play pool and there is no obvious sign saying that. I told her I was about to buy myself a 3 shot like I usually do but she said we all had to buy something. Now I understand having to be a paying customer but having everyone playing pool buy a drink as well is ridiculous because my friends don’t drink kava or Kratom. I don’t understand why you would kick customers out who were enjoying themselves and bothering nobody from a hang out spot especially when they were planning to buy drinks and spend money. You should be able to bring friends in to try a new environment and they shouldn’t have to pay as well, especially when I am paying already (given I’ve spent hundreds of dollars here) to use the things like the pool table. Not a way to promote good business but a great way to lose a good customer.
I recently visited a local kava bar, and it was a delightful experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with comfortable seating and soft lighting that created a relaxed vibe. Ben was incredibly friendly and welcoming, taking the time to explain the different kava options and their effects.
I opted for a traditional kava drink, and it was expertly prepared, with a rich, earthy flavor that was surprisingly enjoyable. The staff made sure I felt comfortable and even suggested some great pairings to enhance the experience.
What stood out most was the sense of community. Patrons were chatting and laughing, making it a perfect spot to unwind and connect with others. Overall, the combination of excellent service, delicious kava, and a friendly atmosphere makes this bar a must-visit. I’ll definitely be returning!

Stumbled upon this and have been wanting to try Kava. Melody was wonderful! Taught us all about Kava & its benefits. We loved our experience here as
Luke and Allana are among the best bartenders of any type of bar out there. They both go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and satisfied. After a couple of visits they even remember what I order. Come here for a good time!

They politely tolerate fraudent activities and then create a toxic atmosphere when you disagree. I don't personnaly enjoy the company of snakes, vampires, or clowns. And it's totally packed with them.
