I’ve eaten at this restaurant since 2021. It’s always been wonderful. Today I went with family and it was completely different. My food was cold and at great risk, I sent it back. The second round came out burnt.Other food that was ordered for our table was extremely over cooked had difficulty, cutting it with fork and knife. The Service, let’s talk about the service. The service has declined greatly. I was shocked at one point in our dinner experience there were two females behind the bar embraced in full body hug rubbing all over each other, being loud drawing attention. The waitress we had didn’t seem to understand my order had to repeat it several times maybe she was new? Sad to say I can no longer recommend as this is the second time I’ve been in the past couple of months and the service and the food is just not what it used to be

I'm not sure if they changed ownership or not but the food it's not as good as it once was. It was never the best but it was above average now it's average or below average. The queso tastes like melted velveeta, no flavor Beyond that.

Only ordered breakfast but the portions were smaller but food was good. The dining room was small but we didn't have to wait. Will be going back to try out some of the authentic Mexican cuisine and let you know about that.

Dona Julia’s is definitely a cute hole-in-the-wall type Mexican spot on way South Florida Ave in Lakeland. If you want decent Mexican food for pretty reasonable prices, you’ll find that here.
Inside it was way smaller than I expected, but it’s very cute and cozy. All the staff were really friendly and we had a great experience overall.
Honestly, most Mexican/ American restaurants blend together for me. The food is all pretty similar and it’s hard for one to stand out. I felt Dona Julia’s just sits in with that mix but we still enjoyed it.

We came here for lunch during the week. The food was delicious and plentiful. They gave chips and salsa that was delicious. The environment was calm and relaxing. The staff were on point, very welcoming and kind. The menu has many options too. We enjoyed our lunch here and will return soon to try another dish.

Go to place for Mexican food. Dona Julia’ is the standard by which I measure every other Mexican food restaurant as I travel. Only a couple have come even close.
