I loved the food.It was so good. The pork egg rolls were excellent.Love them.I can make a meal and then buy themselves. Went to see my mom sunday, and we stopped at sunday's barbecue to enjoy some lunch together with my family. The service was fantastic, not a problem. Drinks were filled every time I didn't have to ask for. It was some of the best service I've had in a long time.Thank you, Sonny Barbecue, from making my mom stay out perfect.
Love the 9.99 Big Deal.
Didn’t even get seated, the place is so short staffed that we stood at the hostess stand for about 10 minutes while she waited on tables. We finally walked out because we figured that if we couldn’t even get seated in a mostly empty restaurant then service would also probably be terrible. This is the second time we have walked out for the same reason, this location used to be great but now it seems like it’s not being run very well.
The location has some parking deficits, but the food is always perfect, prepared fresh and served hot. the staff is amazing, and attentive. The atmosphere average for a BBQ location. They are offering both tables and booths to fit your groups needs.
I live in Lakeland. Other locals have told me that the food quality and service at this Sonny's location is Hit-or-Miss. It used to be consistently disappointing and I just stopped coming here about 6 years ago. The reviews tell a story of continued staffing struggles but I received my to-go order less than 10 minutes after ordering it ON A FRIDAY EVENING. It was well put together with no missing or goofed up items. I wish the bread was more crunchy but that doesn't even happen when dining in, much less after hot Texas Toast sits in a box and steams itself. I should have asked the name of the lady running the to-go area She was hustling like you need to do in a busy restaurant to stay caught up.
Exelent experience
Food was okay...little on the room temperature side...not hot! Service was much better than the food!
Visited this location Thurs. 12/19/24 through the drive-thru. The past 2 visits I was shorted garlic bread one time and received cold food the other. I always tip well but I decided this time I wasn't going to pay extra for waiting 20-30min+ at a window for someone to hand me an order that most likely isn't correct or receive cold food. 99.9% sure I entered No tip but when I got home guess what? $5.30 was added for ribs that looked and tasted like they were made 2 days ago and okra that was barely warm. My wife only ordered a lg Turkey sandwich which was good. For over $26 before mystery tip was added is unacceptable.

I’ve been going to Sonny’s since I was a kid and I love it but I went to this location today and ordered my usual pulled pork . They came out with sliced pork and I told them so they brought it back to correct it. When it came back they gave me somebody’s unfinished pulled pork with sauce all over it and it never comes with sauce on it already. Very disappointed and disgusted with the whole thing.
Went thru drive thru wanting to grab a quick sandwich and tea for the road heading to Tampa. Ordered a licensed pork big deal on garlic bread and a unsweet tea with a lot of ice. What I got, a sloppy saucy pulled pork sandwich on garlic bread that was slopped together barbecue falling off the soggy bread, couldn’t eat it sitting still let alone driving. Ok no big deal I have my ice tea. Nope, it was “warm” SWEET tea. Disgusting. All went to the garbage.
