Definitely picky about my Mexican food since I'm A California native and I can def say this is pretty close to home for a small hole in the wall! Their lunch special is so good and reasonably priced! Definitely a bummer they charge you after your second refill of chips/salsa, but that wouldn't stop me from eating here!

Tapatios Mexican Retaurant. I was a regular there for 16 years. But after covid, it seems like they lost sensitivity in their pallet. Because the food does not taste anything close to what it used to taste before. On top of that, they cut portions by about 50 percent and raised prices by about 30 percent. They lost a loyal customer that used to refer them to everyone I met.

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants (and I love mexican food). Every time im in Lakeland or nearby this is my stop to eat. They have an extensive menu, everything is good, their margaritas are delicious and hand nade (not with mixes). I love their guacamole, the fajitas, tacos... all their flavors are so authentic and fresh that all the dishes I try I love. Their desserts (if you have space for it) are also very good! Their service is also one of the things I enjoy the most, from the owner, to the servers they are all super nice, friendly and they make you feel welcomed!

The reason for my low rating is simply. Because i'm having my lunch and I get a refill of coke and i'm charged 3.75$ for my 1st coke and 2$ for a refill! Absolutely ridiculous! I could have missed it on the menu. But I didn't see that they charged you for a refill and they give you a small glass. So you're going to need a refill! It's already too expensive to eat out but to charge 6$ for 2 small drinks is disgusting

Was not impressed...first time visiting.Our server was good, food was awful. I was disappointed. The pick two combo with the taco and the enchilada is what I ordered and I must say the chicken was very bland and dry, the taco meat tasted odd. Server did ask if everything was ok, I told him I did not like it. He did however try to make it right by exchanging it out to traditional tacos, again very dry and bland for a second time. My husband commented that they were probably cussing me out in Spanish. When I looked over they were all standing at the bar giving me the evil eye for sure and chattering. I actually came here for the reviews, plus we love Mexican food! Maybe work on having your servers cuss me out...out of view of the customers. Add some seasonings to that chicken and rice.
Very good and plentiful portions. Never disappointed when eating here. The service is also friendly and fantastic!

This place is always amazing! ?My kid had a burrito, and I enjoyed my favorite, the Miguel special. I've never been able to finish it all, but I still try every time.We were in and put faster than the McDonald's drive thru with full bellies of delicious food ?

Got seated outside on "metal chairs" with 60° weather and a cold breeze due to inside wait being 30 minutes or so. Chips were cold and hard when they arrived at the table, server forgot the salsa bowls. Asked for orchata drink with meal... cup was full of ice (with weather I couldn't drink). Asked server for an orchata with no ice and said since owner wasn't there he could not get a another drink for me without ice unless I payed for it (?). Spoke with manager whom did not say very much, she was mute and couldn't make a business decision, server kept saying that if owner wasn't there they couldn't reissue a drink. I left upon their insistence and unwillingness of issuing me a drink without ice, the cup remained full- for which I paid almost $5.00. My first and last time to this location.
