Lisa's Cafe of Madeira

We live nearby, having just moved to Madeira from another part of the county. Our first visit was lovely, food was great and our server was charming. A good friend who also lives nearby told me after we went there that she agreed with everything we said, but to watch out because Lisa herself is a pain in the neck. Well, we met Lisa last weekend and she lived up to her reputation. Although it was 1:30 when we pulled up and her permanent signage advertises that they are open until 2 (see photo), she rushed out to tell us the kitchen was closed. She then started talking to us like we were tourists, obviously not concerned with repeat business. So, locals who she doesn’t recognize - you’re going to be treated like a tourist. Tourists, well you’re going to be treated like tourists. That’s not how we genuine locals treat people so don’t blame us all for her behavior. She’s not originally from here, so definitely not a native like I am.

There is nothing to negative to say about Lisa’s. We were treated like royalty. The bloody Mary’s were delicious. I had an omelette. Friends had a breakfast sandwich and eggs Benedict with hash. We all couldn’t have asked for better.
And, we did take away sangria and pina colodas for the beach. You don’t want to miss this spot on your next trip to Mad Beach.

Exceptional place. So glad we’d asked someone for local recommendations. Business owner clearly knows how to run customer service and food offering. Upselling but not constantly in your face. Knows what standards she expects from her staff, as she leads by example. Food quality was fantastic. Prices were slightly on the higher side but the food was worth the value. Whilst we do have food intolerances they could not change their dishes or not prepared to do so, which I fully understand and accept. Staff were so polite, friendly and helpful - did not feel fake for tips! Thank you for the amazing experience.

Perhaps some suggestions, no need to upsell alcohol at 9am lol and perhaps some milk alternatives for tea and coffee x

Excellent breakfast!! Irish eggs Benedict, real grits. Eddie recommended the Irish Benedict, great choice. Super nice guy, as was everyone else. Best breakfast I've had in years.

Any posts about staff or owner being rude I did not experience, in fact, we had the completely different experience. Great staff and the owner was friendly, cares about her food being served and takes her business very seriously. I would eat here again.

Irish eggs Benedict were perfection. The eggs over easy with cheese grits --delicious. And you cannot beat the service. We will be back!!!

If you are planning on eating at this restaurant make plans to go somewhere else!! This was the worst experience I’ve ever had in my years of eating out. My husband and I waited almost 30 minutes for our food and all we ordered was an omelet, grits and toast! When they finally brought it there was not much of apology from the waiter and the order was not complete so had to ask for what was missing. The food okay, marginal at best. The prices were shockingly high for breakfast food and the portions small. We are locals and will never return. It’s a once and done for sure.

We are locals, not vacationers. We decided to try Lisa’s today. Big mistake. Lisa the owner was so rude. We could only sit where she wanted us to and then only at certain positions. We ordered our food and asked to have cheese removed from the breakfast burger. We were told there are not substituting and no removing.
The food was sub par at best, and with Lisa’s rules and attitude, along with sitting outside trying to have a conversation with music blaring and listening to the street noise.
We tried it once, now time to move on to places that are more comfortable, better food and better atmosphere. We will not be back.
The only reason I gave it one star is because I can’t leave no stars.

Never ever will I come to this place again. You and your stupid rules! Every time. Good riddance. Adding... If you are reading this review you must go back and look at all the other one star reviews. There is a common theme here and I honestly don't know how this place stays in business. There are so many other nice options in the area where patrons are treated with respect, and the food is much better.

We are regulars on the coast. I have to say that Lisa’s Cafe has the best breakfast on the beach on this coast. Hands down the best food & hospitality. Highly recommend the corn beef hash! Never had better. Lisa’s coffee was amazing as well!
