The Keys Fisheries is a unique experience. This is not a typical restaurant dynamic where you get seated by a host, a water comes to take your order, you chit chat while you wait, pay and leave. Not at all. Here you make your "theme-park" style line to order, give the name of your favorite character or super hero (depending on the day), wait 5 minutes, pick up your food at the window, order a drink at the bar if you want find a table, enjoy your mouth-watering meal,...
This is a self-serve place. Order at the window and pick up your own food. Typical Florida Keys casual dining. Fish sandwiches/dishes are OK, but nothing to brag about. The chawders and bisques are unusually thick and the flavor doesn't make up for it. A bit pricy for the quality, even for the keys.
I walked over after the Marathon Seafood festival to grab a bite to eat after a long day of vending. It was a no frills type of place for a GREAT meal, which I absolutely love and best of all is that the place is also a fish market so you know they have the freshest fish.
