Marathon's little best kept secret. No other restaurant in the area compares. Next best would be Butterfly Cafe. Islamorada? Your looking at Ziggy's or Chef Michael's. Key West? Louie's Backyard. Take it from a local who enjoys fine dining and great food.

Over a three day stay, we ate at Rhum House as much as possible. The food was exquisite. We were traveling as a group of 8-15, depending on whether our Florida family joined us that day or not. In that time period, we tried just about everything on the menu. The buttery seared scallops with the incredible parmesan polenta; the bison which was cooked to order, tender and flavorful; the chicken shawarma was so tender and flavorful we ordered it both nights. There was a roasted carrot soup, with coconut and ginger, that was a perfect balance of creamy, roasted and spicy. The special fish was cooked to highlight the delicate nature of the fish and add a slight nuttiness. And for dessert, the mango sorbet tasted like a bite of fresh mango. All flavors were balanced so beautifully, we asked for the chef to come out on the last night to give him a standing ovation. As for the ambiance, the inside is cozy and classy like a 1920's wooden ship from an Agatha Christie novel. There are cozy benches with upholstered cushions. The bar chairs look out at the stunning view, just past the vast array of liquor. The outer deck provided a warm and protected view of the water in the morning, and an elegant table for 15 at night.Mackenzie and Sidney were stand out in their service with a friendly yet professional air. We only wished we could take them all home with us.Last but not least, the Mai Tais were to die for!!!! Not like any other I've ever had. All the ingredients were top shelf with a perfect balance of smokey, sweet and a little tart. Try it with a float of rum on top. Sidney and Mackenzie are masters at the craft of the Mai Tais (Sidney trained Mackenzie).Whether you are a local or a lucky tourist, please give Rhum House your patronage. Make it your first meal in your trip, so you can come back as often as you like if it charms you as much as it did us.Dietary restrictions: I was able to find gluten free items (I am not celiac, so I did not inquire about handling). Mostly the menu is fresh seafood, but vegetarian options are available too. The salads, and the roasted carrot soup were excellent. We had a vegan in our midst (there were 15 of us). I don't know what she ordered, but she raved about the food like the rest of us.

Restaurant was only 1/3 full at 7:00pm. We weee not staying at the resort but had been recommended to us.Service was not attentive. All family members ordered steaks at different doneness. Our server gave us our meals but did not ask who had which doneness… resulting in only one of us getting our preferred steak. After cutting into and tasting our steaks we discovered they were not what we ordered. Our service person did not stop by to ask us how our meals until we had finished our meals We tokd her the problems with our orders. She didn’t seem to be concerned that we were not satisfied due to the mix up of meals. She offered to take 2 drinks off our tab. I did not ask for the manager or advise her that this was not acceptable as another family member was paying for this meal. I did want you to be aware of non resort guests experience.

Highly recommend booking a reservation for The Rhum house! The setting is beautiful as well as the restaurant itself. The drinks and the food were very good. We had a great time and will definitely return!

I think this place has great potential if it can last. I have been several times for dinner and always with a party of 6-8. I am always hoping for a better outcome. Either the food is just fair or the service is below par. I have sent several people there wanting their take on it. The results have been the same for everyone.

Visited the Rhum House last Friday for dinner with a couple of friends. It is pretty new, so it was all our first visit. First impression of Grassy Flats resort and Beach Club was clean and fresh nostalgic throwback to the updated slightly larger than boutique resort. To rooftop bar is comfortably spread out with plenty of warm breezy ocean views. Short bar menu offers a great (albeit small) grilled octopus. The Rhum House restaurant wasn't too busy at 7pm. The decor is nautical theme with tables 270 degrees around a center bar, and looks brand new. The service was very attentive and shared all their personal favorites for us to consider. Their homemade bacon bourbon smoked old fashion cocktail was a highlight. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals and gave compliments to the chef: salad with grilled chicken, Caesar salad with blackened shrimp, beef filet mignon, and flank steak. All cooked to the correct temperature. Special mention about the amazing grilled cauliflower side. Didn't have the room to try any dessert ... this time.

I wish we got to find out about the Food. We sat at our 630 reservation, four other tables and empty bar. It took 40 minutes to get water in a clean glass. Received the apps, menus were taken, we didn’t see the server until we decided to leave and requested the check at 724. A shame. We live in marathon and were looking for a new place to get a quality meal. We will never get to know. Not spending 60$ on a steak to get a smug look by a server, treated as if we didn’t belong there. As a restaurant manager I entered impressed and left hungry and utterly disappointed. Do better Mackenzie you lost a 200$ tip

Went there for Valentine's Day and Wow thoroughly disappointed! Food was bland and extremely overpriced paid $15 dollars for 3 shrimp. The chef needs to return to school and learn how to flavor things with seasoning We sat outside on the covered deck and the lighting made everything look yellow they should replace the yellow lights with typical LED warm white lights Nice place for a view and a cocktail and that's it your money can buy much better meals just about anywhere in marathon. The bill for 4 people was over $400.

Our first meal was delicious at the Rhum House. My friends and I enjoyed both the food and the Rhum House decor is incredible. We plan to visit the Rhum house again during our next Keys visit.

The vibe is fresh, casual chic and inviting. Classic cocktails are well prepared and served and their specialty drinks are cleverly crafted and delicious. The service throughout the meal was consistently excellent. The food offerings are well sourced and generally well prepared. The top floor bar and outside terrace has wonderful ocean views which makes it very easy have “just one more”.Parking: The parking is close to the elevator and the stairs up to the restaurant and top floor bar and terrace.Wheelchair accessibility: Elevator service makes the accessibility good.
