Finally found a ☕️ GEM 💎 of a place to eat in Marianna! We are over this way fairly often and always struggle with a good place, preferably local, to eat. So today we ate at Penny's Sweet Beans for breakfast!! The exterior doesn’t at all represent the charm inside. Don’t be stressed there doesn’t look like much parking, pull around back. Enter in for a charming, clean, cute, fully hospitable dining experience. On Saturdays they have a different menu for brunch! The menu partial rotates every six months for the season and to create potential new best sellers. I can’t wait to go again! Go visit them and thank me later!
We live local and have been wanting to stop here for a while.
We arrived today around 8:40 am for breakfast. Initial impressions were good, the restaurant looked clean and was decorated very cute. We were sat right away and served our coffee. It was not overly busy and they had 2 waitresses plus the hostess helped with drinks.
Once we were seated it went downhill…. The table next to us had 2 late arrivals that arrived after us, that tables order was taken AND served before our order was taken.
30+ min and 2 cups of coffee after being seated, our order was taken. We ordered home hash with scrambled eggs and biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs.
30+ min later it was served, we could tell the biscuits and gravy had been plated well ahead of everything else because it had the ‘film’ on it that gravy gets as it cools/sets, biscuits were too hard to cut with a fork , had to use a knife. All other food was good lukewarm at best. Cheddar Cheese slices are used instead of shredded so they didn’t melt well, that would be good to mention when people order cheddar on breakfast items, had I known I would have went with American cheese.
Once it was served (not by waitress) No one stopped by to ask how it was or if we needed anything else. Once we finished and it was obvious we were finished it took the waitress 10 min to ask if we were ready for the check, never asked how the food was but she did acknowledge and apologize for delays. Another 5 min before we received the check.
It seems as though if you are not a regular, friends or family your experience is not great. We will not likely be back.

Surprise on our way to Florida state caves. Really good food and really lovely people. Try the tomato gravy biscuits … different and delicious.
This place is the best. I highly recommend them.
