Being from Europe originally I have to say this is a poor version of German food. We tried several of the dishes and non were well prepared. Ingredient quality was also very low. Not sure why it gets this high rating...maybe people need to get out of Melbourne once in a while. We tried the Wiener schnitzel (that my mother cooked every weekend as a child) and other combo dishes but they were all misses. They do not know how to prepare German/Austrian food. It is a shame really.

Nice dining.. missed the sunset dinner, but enjoyed the restaurant. No reservations, but plenty of room. Has a full bar.. draft beer. Our server was Victoria, very lovely and great service, attentive; authentic dishes and cold draft beer. Eisben.. braised pork shank.. all good, wunderbar!

Cafe Coconut Cove is a family owned restaurant, and it feels like everyone working there is part of the family. When you go there, you are lucky enough to be in their home, eating great German or American food while looking west across the river to a beautiful sunset. When I say they are like family; let me tell you about Colleen.
Two weeks ago, the night before I left Florida for the rest of the year. I had dinner with five friends at Cafe Coconut Grove. The next day when I got ready to leave, no phone! I figured I packed it. When I got to my destination, still no phone. So I called the restaurant. Colleen, a 12 year employee of the restaurant, answered the phone.
To make a long story short, she found the phone, understood my dilemma, volunteered to take the phone to the UPS store and send it to me. Three days later I had my phone. My own sister probably would not had it to me faster.
All I can tell you is go to Cafe Coconut Cove if you want a great meal at a great location with people who are at least as good as your own family at making you at home. I'll be back and looking for Colleen.

We often visit during our professional get-togethers, and it’s always a fantastic experience. The food is authentic, flavorful, and beautifully presented, with traditional German dishes done perfectly. The staff are attentive, friendly, and professional, making it an ideal spot for both business and casual dining after a long day. Highly recommend for anyone looking for excellent German cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere!

We stopped in to enjoy a bottle of wine and the amazing sunset. The service was excellent! Everyone was professional, friendly, and efficient. The restaurant has a very robust wine list. The sunset views, a bottle of wine, and great friends make a perfect evening.

Food and service were impeccable! Our best dining experience since Europe. Excited to take family and friends in the future. Every table was filled but it didn’t fill over crowded and no one was on their phones.
The view? Absolutely breathtaking — though that might have had a little something to do with the fact that we snagged a table right by the window. For a brief moment, everything felt perfect — the light, the view, the promise of a great evening. And then… the table wobbled. Not dramatically, just enough to make every sip of water feel like a small adventure.
On the table sat a pair of salt and pepper shakers that looked like they’d been borrowed from a budget diner on their day off — not exactly the vibe you’d expect from such a “refined” establishment. Our waitress, bless her heart, had a rather creative relationship with the menu. By the time the gluten-free guest’s meal arrived, we’d collectively entered the phase known as “smile politely and hope for the best.”
A trip to the restroom revealed yet another little surprise: the unmistakable scent of Walmart’s finest “Great Value” air freshener. Let’s just say, it added a touch of authentic Americana to the supposedly upscale experience.
As for the food — not terrible, but definitely not the kind of “fine dining” that makes your wallet feel proud of its sacrifice. And calling this “authentic German cuisine”? Well, only if “authentic” now means “vaguely inspired by a postcard from Munich.”
Still, credit where credit’s due: that view really was something special. For a few shining moments, we forgot all about the wobbly table, the seasoning set, and even the Great Value glamour. And for that alone, it was worth the trip.

This was our first time here and celebrated our 19th Anniversary. So glad we chose Cafe Coconut Cove. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. I had the Pineapple Melt and my husband had the weiner schnitzel. So flavorful and delicious. Great relaxed atmosphere. Get there early as they don't take reservations!
