The reservation was made for my wife's birthday, and this is the first restaurant where that detail was completely overlooked. No congratulations and no candle in the desert. This left a sour taste on what was supposed to be a special occasion. Also, it's not good when restaurants charge 20% for service fee in advance. The tip should always be to the customer's discretion. This also takes away the motivation from the waiters to provide a good service, regardless of what they do, they will still have a 20% tip. Lastly the cost for the wine by the glass is way overpriced. It is about $5 to $6 dollars more than other restaurants for the same type of wine. $18 for Protos Tempranillo, seriously?

This place is a standout in Coconut Grove. The space is beautiful — modern and clearly designed as an elevated Lebanese restaurant.
The fresh bread alone is worth coming for — warm, fluffy, and perfect with the dips trio. The muhammara is my favorite, and the hummus and baba ghanoush are excellent as well — balanced, fresh, and full of flavor. Main entrées were strong across the board, and the branzino was especially well done.
What really sets it apart is the versatility. It’s great for families (my daughter loves it — especially the za’atar at Sunday brunch), but it also works perfectly for business or more formal lunches thanks to the ambiance and service.
Beautiful setting, excellent food, and consistently enjoyable. A real asset to the Grove.

My daughter and I were shopping in the neighborhood and stopped at Amal about 5:30. Place was empty, but for 2 tables, they said they could offer us the bar, hightop bar table or an outside table. We sat outside, the inside tables were not filled even after we ate and left. Food was good except for both entrees were overcooked. We ordered the chicken kebabs, and the tenderloin kebabs. We had a hummus platter, tabbouleh salad, and the 2 entrees. Hummus and salad were great. Just disappointed at the high price, overcooked entree, and the attitude of not having a reservation, so therefore you cannot sit in dining room.
