So you order your sushi up at the counter on an iPad, and you go back to the counter and pick up your sushi when it is ready. And they demand an 18% gratuity! When I asked how to change that amount, I was told I cannot. Everyone must pay 18%. Beyond ridiculous. 18% gratuity for ZERO service. Will not return.

Is incredible that they charge you 18% of service for ANY SERVICE. This restaurant is self service, you have to order your own food and pick it up by your self so where is the service here?
They even offer you the option to select an amount for gratuity

Definitely won’t come back, don’t waste your money/time here. We arrive to the place, we thought it was close because there was no one there, however lights and everything were on. You put your own order in, there’s no one again to ask any questions about the menu so good luck if you have any concerns or allergies (we wanted to know about some ingredients and how many pieces) once you’re done they will automatically charge you 18% for “service” that cannot be modified at all but what service??.. completely absurd to charge for a service I haven’t even received and I already “served myself” by putting the order in. Then after we paid we sat down and 5min after a person shows up to cook our sushi, didn’t even say hi and took her time to cook because the conversation with her other coworker was more interesting than doing the actual job. After a while that the food is ready, she puts it on the countertop that’s right in front of us and just walks away. We stay there waiting since we don’t know if that’s our order or not??♀️ then she comes back and I stop her to ask for sauce, she gave it to me and left, I had to go grab my food and sit down. Again 18% for what service? Even tho the food was actually good, the service and the experience was enough for us to never want to come back to this place again. We live in the neighborhood and we eat out a lot however won’t be here. If the service is good I don’t mind tipping at all but even at a drive thru I’ve got better service, We were starving and we couldn’t be more disappointed and dissatisfied. You should definitely have a staff meeting and try to make things better.

Today, we had the pleasure of dining at B-Side. We enjoyed the Golden Dragon, New Danger, and Motomami rolls, which were all excellent. Motomami was particularly unique, featuring plantains that surprised us in a good way. Moreover, the owner, Junior, was very kind and made our dining experience even more enjoyable.
