Bulla Gastrobar The Falls

Oof - had to come back and knock off some stars after lunch yesterday. Spinach salad was wilted with scant goat cheese and nuts, tortilla was greasy with little flavor, sandwiches were meh. We like the patio here but will not be back anytime soon. I don’t know what happened - this place used to be a reliable lunch stop but the only good part yesterday was the drinks.

So disappointed. Our reservations were at 645pm and when we went to order they were out of the majority of all the main dishes. And when we went to order dessert they were out of two of the desserts we wanted. How unprepared can you be for a Saturday evening. The only positive was the waitress. We knew she was trying her best despite the hand she was dealt from the restaurant. All the highlighted meals were sold out. Ridiculous!

I like Bulla Bar, food was ok, the ambiance was noisy in a good way, I will go again YES The drinks could be better, but services was good and the lady at the entrance was the nicest person ever. thanks for a lovely night

We were seated and immediately talked out of eating there by the hostess. She told us that the kitchen was backed up and that our food would be very delayed because of 2 large parties in the restaurant. We took our seats outside, thinking we would stay for a drink and were never greeted by a server. We decided to leave and will not be returning.

Food was great, drinks were good but one member in the party had mimosa and the champagne was flat and did not taste great.

This is like my second or third time at this exact location. They had the worst service ever, which is a shame because the Darryl location is so good and the servers at the restaurant are amazing, but never again.

I feel that it is important for restaurants to understand than when we choose to step into their establishments we are looking for something beyond what we can't cook at home. Bulla is not that place. This is one of those restaurants that does not have a defined "theme", or at least they think they do. Are they a "tapas" bar? No. Are they a "Gastropub"? No. When an establishment does not have their cuisine defined then they are all over the place and end up sucking at everything. They attempt to have a vibe, in fact they do. But when it comes to food they do struggle. The restaurant is set up in such a way that you feel like the kitchen can deliver great food. But proof is in the pudding...or the food. I keep it basic when I come into a place that is difficult to define on the menu. I ordered Tequeños and the Bulla Burger. The Tequeños were good, but do they fit into a "tapas" category? No. The burger I ordered with a fried egg that made a brief cameo appearance on the burger. Half of the egg was MIA. If you can't fry an egg properly to make sure it makes a proper "guest" appearance on your food then you are in trouble. It was served with what they call "patatas bravas" on the side. None lived up to the expectation on text. My Wife ordered "Truffle Pasta." Big mistake. If indeed there was real truffles on that pasta I would save on the cost and offer a proper, well executed, pasta dish and not try to lure customers with a lower than sub-par offering of a truffle pasta dish. I felt bad for the waitress who had to deal with our complaints on the food. She was excellent. Unfortunately she had to be the messenger to the kitchen. But I rather be dead honest than to patronize a restaurant that has no definition on what they serve nor potential to impress your palates.
