The truth is bad, the meat empanada is very horrible, that empanada is the ugliest and that fried sandwich, disgusting, I don't know why they gave it a privileged place on Netflix, the people who serve it well, but the two things I tried were very ugly, the guarapo, well, the ugliest

El Rey De Las Fritas is an iconic restaurant in Miami, known for its specialty: the frita Cubana. I ordered the original frita. It came in a fresh and fluffy Cuban bun, with crispy shoestring fries and chopped onions inside. The meat was tasty with great seasoning. The croqueta was also very good. The ham was flavorful. It was not like the typical creamy Spaniard croqueta. This style is more compact. I also ordered the Cuban buñuelos, and they were good. Finally, I tried their “batido de chocolate” (milkshake), and it was delicious.

Update November 2024

I have been coming here for decades. Loved this place. Look at my last review. Something changed. I sent my son who speaks limited English to pick up an order which I called in and ordered in Spanish. They had missed two drinks. My son tried to explain but the server said "dont speak English" and practically threw the bag of food at him. She didn't attempt to understand or ask someone else for help. The paying customer was treated horribly. I am a native Cuban and can't believe the kind of disrespect and entitlement displayed here. If you live here, at least attempt to learn the english language. And if you don't, then don't be rude to those that do! No excuse. Miami is becoming a haven for rude people. I may think twice before returning here. Im so very sad.

From 2022- The best Cuban fritas ever. Very local, no frills, counter service and takeout. All Cubans come here. Spanish is a must, or at least do some research and know what you want to order ahead of time so you don't struggle ordering.

I didn't like the taste of the fried food.
It seems they don't put chorizo.

I give them 5 stars because it's the best, but how are they going to close on Sundays at 4:30?

I tried a fried one for the first time and, honestly, I loved it. I ordered the frita with cheese and I don't regret it, the meat was well seasoned, with the crispy chips on top, and the cheese gave it that extra touch.

The service was also great, the girls were very friendly and attentive. It's a simple but perfect place for a quick and tasty lunch.

I definitely recommend this place, especially the frita con queso and the mamey shake. A perfect combination for a quick and delicious Cuban lunch!
